A method for generating individual glyphs, and a system and method for inspecting individual glyphs are disclosed. The system includes a true resolution imaging device configured to capture an image of a printed glyph. A registry service has a database for storing other glyphs and/or parameters of other glyphs. An analysis system, in selective communication with the registry service, includes computer software configured to receive the captured image; an image analysis program configured to perform forensic analysis on the received image to determine parameter(s) associated with the glyph; and an image comparison program configured to i) compare the glyph parameter(s) with parameters stored in the registry for other glyphs or with parameters determined, by image analysis program, for the other glyphs stored in the registry, and ii) generate a probability that the glyph and object are authentic based upon the comparison.

A digital pen of the kind having means to sense and create a digital record of the use made of the pen and a memory in which the digitised record is stored also includes a reader for communication with memory tags by inductive coupling. The means to sense and create a digital record of the use made of the pen may include a camera. Preferably the reader for communication with memory tags is located at the opposite end of the pen from a nib for convention writing, and the pen includes a battery power supply.

An image viewed by a person is recorded in response to the pointing direction of the eyes of the person by using an optical sensor arrangement that simultaneously derives image segments corresponding with images seen by the person looking forward of his head and to both sides of his head. Alternatively, the sensor arrangement includes plural optical sensors for these images. One image of the plural sensors is selected for recording based on rotation of the head.

Optically detectable data encoding layouts for surfaces includes a primary lattice and a secondary lattice formed in interstitial areas between plural points on the primary lattice and one or more markings located on points on the secondary lattice. The primary lattice defines the layout of the secondary lattice. The data is encoded according to the positions of the markings on the secondary lattice. The layout provides absolute or relative page position encoding because, when the markings are imaged and decoded, the decoded data corresponds to the position of the corresponding marking on the surface.

A visible light image is projected onto text on a document to enable a user to position the light image relative to the desired text portion. At least some of the text is captured in accordance with a position of the light image. A text selector selects the desired text portion from the captured text.

A multi-media photograph album comprises a network of electrical conductors which connect with plural data storage devices storing audio data and/or image data. A user, via a user interface, selectively addresses the data storage devices. Image data are retrieved from the data storage devices and sent via a wireless link to an image data storage device, e.g., a personal computer. Such information may include a version of the image printed, either to the same or to a lower resolution. Method and system for providing a printed image with a related sound

A printer is adapted to produce a printed image with an associated sound passage stored on an electronic storage device. The printer comprises an information input for receiving information to define a visual image and also information defining a passage of sound. The printer has a printer element for printing the first information as a printed image , but also has a writing element for writing the sound information into an electronic storage device adapted for attachment to the printed image. An appropriate mechanism for attaching the electronic storage device to the printer image is provided at the printer.
