A gas turbine engine, has: a shaft rotatable about a central axis and engaged at an end thereof to a rotatable load via a spline; a reference tube circumferentially extending around the shaft, the reference tube secured at a first end to the shaft for rotation therewith and a second end free relative to the shaft for measuring a deformation of the shaft, the reference tube defining at least one tube aperture therethrough; an oil nozzle fluidly connected to a source of lubricant, the oil nozzle defining an exit flow axis intersecting the at least one tube aperture for injecting oil through the reference tube, the shaft defining at least one shaft aperture extending therethrough, the oil nozzle aligned with the spline via the at least one tube aperture and the at least one shaft aperture.

A rotor disk assembly comprises a first rotor disk with a plurality of circumferentially distributed first throughbores. A second rotor disk comprises a connection portion projecting at least partially axially, a plurality of circumferentially distributed second throughbores being provided in the connection portion in cooperative distribution relative to the first rotor disk for the first and second throughbores to be in register with one another in the rotor disk assembly. Connector bolts each have an elongated body with a flange between its ends, a head at its first end and a removable head at its second end, the head at the first end spaced apart from the flange for the connector bolt to be secured to one of the rotor disks at a respective throughbore, the removable head at the second end being spaced apart from the flange for the second end to project. An anti-rotation feature is between each said connector bolt and at least one of the rotor disks to prevent rotation of the connector bolts when the removable head is installed on the second end in the rotor disk assembly.

Fastening system for rotor hubs

A gas turbine engine comprises bearing(s). A structure supporting the bearing defines a bearing cavity surrounding the at least one bearing, an ambient chamber and an intermediate chamber having a portion between the bearing cavity and the ambient chamber, with at least one wall forming a passage from the bearing cavity to the ambient chamber and through the portion of the intermediate chamber. A tube is received in the passage and having a first end open to the bearing cavity and a second end open to the ambient chamber, the second end adapted to be connected to a conduit for fluid communication between the bearing cavity and the through the tube, wherein a portion of or near the first end of the tube is sealingly joined to the at least one wall, and the second end of the tube contacts the at least one wall and is free to move relative to the at least one wall.

Assembly of tube and structure crossing multi chambers

A gas turbine engine including at least one high pressure turbine rotor and at least one high pressure compressor rotor drivingly engaged to a rotatable high pressure spool, a low pressure spool rotatable independently of the high pressure spool, at least one low pressure turbine rotor drivingly engaged to the low pressure spool, and a rotatable load drivingly engaged to the low pressure spool. A fixed rotational speed ratio is defined between rotational speeds of the at high pressure turbine and compressor rotors. A fixed rotational speed ratio is defined between rotational speeds of the low pressure turbine rotor(s) and of the low pressure spool. A low pressure compressor rotor is in driving engagement with the low pressure spool through a variable transmission which defines a variable rotational speed ratio between the rotational speeds of the low pressure spool and of the low pressure compressor rotor.

Gas turbine engine with transmission and method of adjusting rotational speed

A gas turbine engine includes an annular plenum defined with an outer skin and a perforated inner skin for receiving selective air flow to impinge a support case which supports shrouds of the rotor assemblies of the engine therein for active tip clearance control of the rotor assemblies. In one embodiment a bobbin-type transfer tube for supplying cooling air into the plenum, is provided between an outer case of the engine an the plenum such that the thermally induced relative movement of the outer case and the plenum is permitted.

Active turbine or compressor tip clearance control

A gas turbine engine including a compressor rotor and a turbine rotor connected by a compressor shaft portion connected to the compressor rotor and a turbine shaft portion connected to the turbine rotor. The compressor shaft portion and the turbine shaft portion are connected axially together by a shaft coupling, between the compressor rotor and the turbine rotor, and at least a bearing rotatably coupled to the compressor shaft portion adjacent the shaft coupling. The compressor shaft and/or the turbine shaft are provided with openings permitting cooling air to enter air passages in the area of the shaft coupling and surrounding the end of the turbine shaft portion, in order to dissipate heat originating at the turbine rotor and thus reducing the thermal stresses at the bearing.

A rotor containment structure for gas turbine engine comprises an inner containment layer having a single integral body defining an annular structure about the rotor, and having a support on the inner surface of the inner containment layer for at least one shroud segment. An outer containment layer provides containment strength to contain blade fragments and defining an annular structure about the inner containment layer. Air passage through the outer containment layer for air to pass from an exterior of the outer containment layer to an interior of the outer containment layer; and the inner containment layer being connected at a first end to the outer containment layer with a gap defined between the inner surface of the outer containment layer and the outer surface of the inner containment layer, the gap being in fluid communication with the air passage such that air flows through the gap, beyond a free second end of the inner containment layer.

A stator vane segment, for constructing a circumferential array of like segments in a gas turbine engine, each segment in the array being separated by an axially extending joint from an adjacent segment and being releasably mounted to an outer engine casing. Each stator vane segment has: a number of vane airfoils spanning radially between an inner platform and an outer platform, and the outer platform includes: a casing mounting fastener on an outer surface and mating lateral joint edges extending between forward and aft edges.

A cover plate for a bladed rotor in a turbine section of a gas turbine engine which comprises an annular plate segment comprising a plurality of spaced-apart seats with each seat coincident with a rivet. The rivets are the rivets used for anchoring the root of the blade in the disc, and the seats and the covers have frusto-conical surfaces having an axis which is the axis of the rivet.

Cover plate for gas turbine rotor

An assembly for improving the operation of a gas turbine engine having an annular turbine support case and a plurality of shroud segments supported on the inner, radial side of the turbine support case. The shroud segments are located end-to-end to form an annular shroud within the turbine support case. Slots are provided in each of the adjacent ends of adjacent shroud segments, and seals are provided for insertion in the slots for sealing the gaps between the adjacent ends of adjacent shroud segments. The seals further include extensions which cooperate with the turbine support case to prevent rotation of the shroud segments relative to the turbine support case.
