A combination for securing an anchor member in a receiving material includes a hardenable reaction resin mortar containing filler material and a sleeve-like dowel member with openings extending through the dowel member wall so that mortar injected into the dowel member can escape laterally outwardly through the openings. The ratio of the diameter of the openings through the dowel member wall to the mean particle diameter with the filler material is in the range of approximately 1.5 to 12.0, and particularly 1.8 to 5.6.

Combination for securing an anchor member

A destructible container is arranged to maintain the components of a multi-component settable mass in separate regions until they are ready to be mixed for anchoring a fastener member in a borehole. The container is made up of an elongated outer cartridge and an inner cartridge positioned within the outer cartridge so that a space for one of the components is formed between the inner cartridge and the outer cartridge. The multi-component mass includes a resin component filled into the outer cartridge and a hardenable component filled into the inner cartridge. The space within the outer cartridge is divided into two separate regions, preferably one following the other in the elongated direction of the outer cartridge. The resin component is present in each region, however, a thixotropic agent is included in one region but not the other so that the viscosity of the resin component is greatly increased within the one region. Preferably, the increased viscosity is present in the region of the outer cartridge forming the trailing end of the container when it is inserted into a borehole so that flow out of the borehole is, for practical purposes, prevented. Accordingly, a resin component which is highly fluid prior to the mixing operation, such as methylmethacrylate (MMA) can be used.

Destructible container for a multi-component settable mass

An axially elongated expansion sleeve is formed from an extruded cylindrically shaped blank with a blind hole in one end. An axially extending part of the blank from the other end is deformed into a U-shaped section of uniform thickness. The U-shaped section is upset so that it increases in thickness toward the other end. The upset U-shaped section is shaped to provide it with a cylindrically shaped outside surface with the inside base of the section sloping toward the axis of the sleeve in the direction toward the other end.

Method of producing an expansion sleeve for a metallic expansion dowel

A two-component mortar composition for securing stays and for rock stabilization in mining having an unsaturated polyester in one component and a hardener material in the other. The composition comprises a total of 15 to 35 weight percent of unsaturated polyester, 9 to 25 weight percent of reactive diluent, 44 to 66 weight percent of filler, 0.5 to 4 weight percent of thixotropic agent, and 1 to 6 weight percent of a hardener which is a free radical curing catalyst. The composition exhibits desired strength levels and also exhibits the desired securing properties for mortar compositions as well as ease of handling.

Hardenable synthetic resin composition and its use

A plastics material expansion dowel has an axially extending dowel body with a central hole extending in its axial direction and with wave-form slots also extending in the axial direction and opening into the central hole. The wave-form slots have alternating crests and troughs. The width being greatest at the top of the crests and the bottom of the troughs and being least at the transition between the crests and the troughs. A spreading screw can be inserted into the central hole for effecting the expansion of the dowel body. The number of wave crests exceeds the number of wave troughs in the screw-in direction of the spreading screw by one. Further, the outside surface of the dowel body has axially spaced groove-like recesses extending in the circumferential direction for affording surface profiling.

Expansion dowels for use in slabs, masonry and similar structural components having a face surface and a hollow space inwardly of the face surface so that the dowel can be inserted through the face surface into the hollow space. The dowel has a shaft part which extends through the face surface into the hollow space. Expansion arms are flexibly articulated to the shaft part and are located in the hollow space when the dowel is inserted. Support levers are flexibly articulated to the expansion arms and are interconnected by a link. The support levers are also located within the hollow space when the dowel is fully inserted. The expansion arms and support levers can be angularly displaced between an insert position so that the dowel can be inserted into the hollow space and an expansion position for holding the dowel in the inserted position. Releasable stops are provided for securing the expansion arms and support levers in the insert position.

Expansion dowel for a structural component having a hollow space

In a dispensing device for filling boreholes with a single or multi-component adhesive, filler, sealer or primer, the material is conveyed from storage containers holding the individual components through a supply pipe and an outlet nozzle which dispenses the material directly into the borehole. By manually operating a handle lever, material is displaced out of the storage container into the supply pipe. Further, an actuating unit operated by the handle lever is connected to the outlet nozzle for telescoping it relative to the supply pipe whereby material is displaced out of the supply pipe through the outlet nozzle into the borehole.

Device for filling boreholes

A device for discharging measured amounts of a plural-component material, such as an adhesive, filling, sealing or putty-like substance includes an axially extending casing having a first end. The interior of the casing is divided into separate compartments each having a discharge opening at the first end. A mixing chamber is positioned at the first end of the casing for receiving the components discharged from the compartments. A slide plate is positioned between the first end of the casing and the mixing chamber and is rotatable about the axis of the casing. The slide plate has openings for passageways alignable with the discharge openings for admitting selective amounts of the components into the mixing chamber.

Device for discharging a plural-component material

A device for dispensing measured amounts of a single-component or multi-component substance, such as an adhesive material, a sealing material or a filler material, includes a container holding the substance. A cartridge of propellant gas is positioned within the container and is arranged to supply the propellant gas into contact with a piston which is displaceable in the container for dispensing the substance.

Device for dispensing a single-component or multi-component substance

In a device for the melting and measured discharge of a thermoplastic adhesive material, a melting chamber is enclosed by a heating coil. The adhesive material in solid rod form is supplied into the melting chamber through a sealing sleeve formed of a material such as polytetrafluoroethylene (TEFLON). A heating element is mounted on the bearing sleeve adjacent the melting chamber to heat up the sleeve and the material within it to a desired temperature. A switch or other member is connected to the heating element on the sleeve for discontinuing its supply of heat to the sleeve when the desired temperature is reached. The part of the sealing sleeve on the opposite side of the heating element from the melting chamber can be provided with some structure to dissipate or block the flow of heat through the sealing sleeve away from the melting chamber.

Two-component kneadable materials for gluing and coating which are composed of a hardenable component and a hardening agent wherein the two-components are separated by a thin layer of finely divided particulate material, the thin layer being destructible under working conditions.

Two-component material

An expansion dowel consists of an axially extending dowel body with a spreading member at its leading end and an expansion member extending around the dowel body rearwardly of the spreading member. A helically arranged control cam surface is formed on the expansion member and faces toward the trailing end of the dowel body. A stop is formed on and extends outwardly from the dowel body and contacts the control cam surface. When the dowel body is turned around its axis relative to the expansion member, the stop rides on the control cam surface and causes the spreading member to expand the expansion member radially outwardly.

Expansion dowel

A two-component adhesive cartridge includes a hardener component and a resin component kept separated from one another in a breakable or destructible container. The container is formed of a latticework frame covered with a binder to provide an imperforate enclosing wall for the container. The hardener component is incorporated into the enclosing wall. The resin component is filled into the container. A filler can be provided in the container.

Two-component adhesive cartridge

A fastening element assembly for insertion into a prepared borehole is made up of a tie bolt and an expanding wedge. The tie bolt has a C-shaped flange formed on its trailing end which projects radially and circumferentially from the tie bolt. The projecting ends of the flange form a guide for the expanding wedge as the wedge is driven into a borehole in converting the assembly from its unspread condition into locked engagement within the borehole. Preferably, the circumferential surface of the tie bolt and the expanding wedge each form part of a circle. In the unspread condition, the circumferential surfaces of the parts of the tie bolt and expanding wedge disposed in surface contact with one another, form a circle.

Fastening element assembly

An expansion dowel formed of an axially extending metal sleeve has slots extending axially from its leading end for a portion of its length toward its trailing end. The bore through the sleeve consists of a threaded portion extending from the trailing end and a frusto-conically shaped portion extending from the threaded portion to the leading end of the sleeve. After the sleeve is inserted into a borehole in a receiving material it is anchored in the borehole by displacing a frusto-conically shaped cone through the frusto-conically shaped portion of the bore toward the leading end of the sleeve. The trailing end of the cone is located within the sleeve axially inwardly of the trailing ends of the slots. A flowable substance is injected into the bore of the sleeve so that it flows outwardly through the slots into the open spaces between the outside surface of the sleeve and the surface of the borehole. The flowable substance includes a material for protecting the sleeve against corrosion.
