The electric park brake of the present invention includes an electric caliper motor assembly. The electric caliper motor assembly includes a motor, which is operably coupled to a shaft. The motor and shaft are surrounded by a housing. A cogwheel is disposed axially and operably connected to the shaft within the housing. A solenoid mechanism is disposed on the housing and positioned axially in relation to the shaft. There is at least one guide pin that is associated with the solenoid mechanism for interacting with the cogwheel when the solenoid is activated. The interaction between the at least one guide pin and the cogwheel provides a park brake feature and prevents movement of the shaft.

Solenoid based park brake method

A variable pitch screw-driven system includes a rotatable drive screw powered by a motor actuator. A cam sleeve includes a nut section and is disposed about the drive screw and is linearly translatable in response to rotation of the drive screw. The cam sleeve includes a cam track with a fixed cam follower positioned to travel within a cam track. Linear translation of the cam sleeve is altered by tracking of the cam follower within the cam track such that rotation of the cam sleeve is effected simultaneously with rotation of the drive screw resulting in an effective variable pitch of the variable pitch screw-driven system wherein linear translation of the cam sleeve results from both rotation of the drive screw and rotation of the cam sleeve.

An electric drum brake comprising: an electric motor including an armature for providing actuation force for the electric drum brake and a backing plate comprising a substantially flat disk portion, a support section located radially outward from a center of the flat disk portion and a substantially cylindrical wall projecting out of the support section as a continuous structure thereof, wherein an armature for the electric motor is located substantially within the substantially cylindrical wall.

A park brake apparatus for a vehicle electric brake comprises an electric motor having a rotational output shaft coupled to a brake mechanism. Rotational movement of the electric motor in a first direction causes application of brake force in the brake mechanism and rotational movement of the electric motor in a second direction opposite the first direction causes release of brake force in the brake mechanism. An armature for the electric motor includes a plurality of radially extending armature arms. A solenoid has a plunger movable between extended and retracted positions. In the retracted position, the plunger is free of the radially extending armature arms and the armature spins free of the plunger. In the extended position, the plunger engages the radially extending armature arms, locking the armature in place and maintaining a park brake state.

An idle speed control device is disclosed for an internal combustion engine controlled by a throttle wherein the device has a throttle stop positioning shaft for the throttle and a threaded drive gear that engages threads on the shaft and on turning in one direction retracts the shaft and connected throttle stop on turning in the opposite direction extends the shaft to a maximum throttle stop positioned where the gear disengages from the shaft and then can freewheel in the opposite direction without forcing further extension of the shaft. A conical spring received on the shaft has a small diameter end adapted to self-lock to the shaft and a large diameter end adapted to be engaged by the gear to compress the spring as the shaft is fully extended whereby the spring is loaded to forcibly re-engage the gear with the shaft when the gear is turned in the one direction to initiate retraction of the throttle stop when fully extended.

Idle speed control device for internal combustion engine

An electric motor powered actuator in which a shaft has a threaded connection with the rotor of an electric motor whereby rotation of the rotor causes axial translation of the shaft. The shaft is urged in one direction by a compression spring and the compression spring is interposed between the shaft and a spacer ring that engages one of the thrust bearings for the motor rotor. The compression spring has nonrotatable connections with the shaft and motor housing such that the torsional force of the spring prevents rotation of the shaft relative to the motor housing when the motor rotor is rotated.

Electric motor powered actuator

An electric motor where the stator is positioned between motor end caps. The stator comprises a pair of housings that contain coil windings and one of the housings has a plurality of axially extending tabs bent over the other housing to secure the housings from axial separation. The bent over portion of a tab is compressed against a wall of an end cap when the stator is assembled between the end caps of the motor and is bendable to accommodate variations in axial dimensions of the motor. One of the motor housings has additional axially extending tabs that are received within openings formed in an end wall of the motor housing to prevent radial displacement of the stator relative to the motor housing.
