Methods and systems may involve receiving metadata associated with an activity of a user with respect to a first device, and capturing discovery content from one or more media sources based on the metadata. In addition, the discovery content and the metadata may be presented to the user via a second device.

Use of real-time metadata to capture and display discovery content

Systems and methods may provide for implementing a dynamic search service. In one example, the method may include receiving information relating to a topic of interest to a user, analyzing the information to determine a search parameter, conducting a coordinated search of content utilizing a plurality of device, generating and gathering results of a coordinated search from the plurality of devices, and generating a result communication including at least one result of the coordinated search.

Dynamic search service

Embodiments of techniques and systems associated with device-to-device (D2D) resource sharing are described. In some embodiments, a D2D communication channel between a first device and a second device is established and a sharing request is received at the first device, from the second device, including a credential identifying the second device. Data representative of a first resource locally available to the first device, but not locally available to the second device, is provided to the second device by the first device. Use of the first resource may be controlled in accordance with an instruction transmitted to the first device from the second device. Other embodiments may be described and/or claimed.

Device-to-device communication for resource sharing

Methods and systems may involve storing device-specific user preference data to a local device and receiving a real-time request from a remote device. One or more user coefficients may be used to filter the device-specific user preference data in response to the request. In one example, the user preference data includes keyword data and the filtered keyword data is used to discover and present information to the user via the remote device.

Collection and management of precision user preference data

Methods and systems may involve identifying metadata associated with a local application, and using an operating system-independent chat protocol to pass the metadata to a remote application. The metadata may include information to be presented to a user of a device executing the remote application, information to be used to locate more information for presentation to the user of the other device, information to be used to coordinate operation of multiple devices, and so forth. In one example, the metadata is passed using a protocol such as XMPP (Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol).

Various embodiments are directed to cooperation among communications devices having microphones to employ their microphones in unison to provide voice detection with noise reduction for voice communications. A first communications device comprises a processor circuit; a first microphone; an interface operative to communicatively couple the processor circuit to a network; and a storage communicatively coupled to the processor circuit and arranged to store a sequence of instructions operative on the processor circuit to store a first detected data that represents sounds detected by the first microphone; receive a second detected data via the network that represents sounds detected by a second microphone of a second communications device; subtractively sum the first and second data to create a processed data; and transmit the processed data to a third communications device. A method, system, and computer program product containing instructions for analyzing audio input to a receiver coupled to an audio player to identify an audio event as one of a plurality of pre-determined audio event types. In response to identifying the audio event, the audio player is caused to adjust an audio output. Adjusting the audio output may include causing the audio player to pause playing audio output or to lower the volume of the audio output. The audio input to the receiver may be recorded. In response to identifying the audio event, the audio player may be caused to replay a recorded portion of the audio input. The recorded portion of the audio input may include a portion recorded prior to identifying the audio event.
