A felting needle has a working part that extends lengthwise along a part of the longitudinal extent thereof. The needle has a cross-sectional area which extends in the radial and circumferential directions of the felting needle and forms the cross-sectional area of the working part for much of the length thereof and at least one barb which penetrates into the working part which is formed by an incut running from the outer surface of the working part towards the interior of the needle. The needle includes at least one bulge which projects beyond the circumferential surface of the felting needle in the working part thereof. The bulge extends lengthwise only along a part of the working part and has volume constituents that do not belong to the barbing bead of the barb. The barb adjoins the outer surface of the bulge lengthwise along the felting needle.

Felting needle and method for producing at least one felting needle

A needle () for a textile machine, in particular a felting needle or fork needle. A working section () extends along a longitudinal axis () and has a needle point (). Adjoining the working section () are a lower shank section () and an upper shank section (), both said shank sections extending coaxially with respect to each other along the longitudinal axis (). Adjoining the upper shank section (), there is provided a needle foot () that has a holding means () extending in a straight line in a transverse direction () transversely to the longitudinal axis (). The diameter (E) of the upper shank section () is both greater than the diameter (D) of the lower shank section () and greater than the mean width of the holding means ().

A semi-automatic loader for needle boards () includes a filling device ()that presents felting needles () arranged at a ratio that is consistent with the ratio of holes of a needle board. A machine operator can then grasp the felting 5 needles () by use of a multiple collet chuck () and set them in groups in the rows of holes of the needle board (). This provides a loading method featuring extremely high productivity.

Needle holder for a textile machine

A wedge-shaped receptacle () is provided for packaging felting needles (). The wedge shape is configured in such a manner that the felting needles lie in the receptacle in a mutual lateral engagement, that is, they are held approximately parallel to one another and they firmly clamp one another without their tips abutting against the receptacle body. This, on the one hand, results in a particular protection of the felting needles () during transportation and, on the other hand, results in a simple handling with the lowest danger of injuries.

A needle () according to the invention serves for the after-treatment, particularly after-needling of flat textile products, particularly for roughening of the product surface. The needle () is of fully symmetrical construction with respect to the central longitudinal axis (); this applies particularly also to its barbs. The needle gauge is at least 46 and the barb depth is 0.02 mm at the most. The needle ensures a gentle, protective operation and the making of particularly fine textiles.

Needle for needling flat textile fabrics

A transition part is provided for a felt needle between the clamping part and the working part, which transition part is designed as elongated, narrow truncated cone. The length of this transition part is at least as long as twice the length of the working part. As a result, a very narrow transition region is formed, which has little tendency to pull out and accumulate fibers from the fibrous web. Should fiber deposits still form, these can be removed easily.
