An image processing apparatus is described comprising a processor configured to receive a video and digital ink annotated on the video. For at least a first frame of the video, the processor is configured to compute a model describing pixels of a bounding region of the ink. For a frame of the video, the processor is configured to compute a second region corresponding to the bounding region. The processor is configured to compute a comparison between the second region and the model and update the ink using the comparison.

Detecting occlusion of digital ink

An image processing apparatus is described comprising a processor configured to access a template of image elements. The processor is configured to search an image which is larger than the template to find a region which is similar to the template, where similarity is measured using a similarity metric. The similarity metric comprises a normalized cross correlation function which is modified to include at least one factor related to a statistic of both the template and the region.

Image processing system with discriminative control

A method is presented for making an automatic selection of a media file type. The method comprises receiving a sequence of digital images of a scene; performing object classification in at least one of the received digital images to determine the presence and class of an object in the scene. The method also comprises performing motion detection in the received sequence of digital images to determine the presence and salience of motion in the scene. A media file type is automatically selected on the basis of the above analysis, and is selected from a still image and a cinemagraph. In some embodiments, the selection also includes a living image. A media file of the selected type is then created.

Automatic selection of cinemagraphs

A method may comprise: obtaining a preliminary frame sequence and at least one still image frame, captured by a digital camera during shooting a scene; obtaining at least one of indication of fulfillment of a predetermined starting scene condition in at least one frame of the preliminary frame sequence and indication of fulfillment of a predetermined first camera condition prevailing during capturing the preliminary frame sequence; automatically selecting a starting frame from the preliminary frame sequence on the basis of at least one of fulfillment of the starting scene condition and fulfillment of the first camera condition; and automatically forming, from the preliminary frame sequence and the at least one still image frame, a displayable frame sequence for displaying a living image of the scene, the living image comprising a still image and a preceding image sequence, the frame sequence starting by the starting frame and having a still image frame as a stopping frame for displaying the still image.
