Provided is an adjustable split thrust ring and a drilling system including the same. The adjustable split thrust ring, in one embodiment, includes a downhole split ring including two or more separate downhole pieces, the two or more separate downhole pieces fitting together to form a substantially circular downhole shoulder surrounding a substantially circular driveshaft. The adjustable split thrust ring further includes an uphole split ring positionable proximate the downhole split ring and including two or more separate uphole pieces, the two or more separate uphole pieces fitting together to form a substantially circular uphole shoulder surrounding the substantially circular driveshaft. In this embodiment, the substantially circular downhole shoulder and the substantially circular uphole shoulder are movable relative to one another to adjust to fit a groove in a driveshaft that they are configured to sit.

Adjustable split thrust ring

Provided is an adjustable split thrust ring and a drilling system including the same. The adjustable split thrust ring, in one embodiment, includes a downhole split ring including two or more separate downhole pieces, the two or more separate downhole pieces fitting together to form a substantially circular downhole shoulder. Methods, devices, and systems include a nested drill bit assembly, including an inner drill bit nested within an opening of an outer drill bit. The inner drill bit is removably coupled to the outer drill bit and the inner drill bit being co-axially positioned within the outer drill bit and accessible from a first end of the outer drill bit.

Drill bit and method for casing while drilling

Adjustable drill string housings are described for use in the directional drilling of wellbores, e.g. wellbores for hydrocarbon recovery wells. The adjustable drill string housings permit adjustment of a bend angle in the housings without removing the housings from a wellbore. In some exemplary embodiments, the bend angle can be adjusted by changing the internal stresses in a support member carried by the housings. In other embodiments, the bend angle may be adjusted by causing failure of sacrificial support members carried by the housings, and the failure may be caused by delivering chemicals through a chemical delivery system to the sacrificial support members. Methods of operating the adjustable drill string housings include multi-lateral drilling operations wherein the bend angle is adjusted when a casing window has been detected.

Adjustable bent housings with measurement mechanisms

A wellbore assembly is provided that can include a first motor housing assembly member and a second motor housing assembly member that can bend relative to the first motor housing assembly at a bend location. The assembly can also include a first inclinometer positioned on assembly side of the bend location to determine a first inclination and a second inclinometer positioned on a second side of the bend location to determine a second inclination. Based on the first and second inclinations, the amount of bend or bend direction of the second motor housing assembly member relative to the first motor housing assembly member can be determined.

A wellbore assembly is provided that can include a first motor housing assembly member and a second motor housing assembly member that can bend relative to the first motor housing assembly at a bend location. The assembly can also include a magnet positioned to emit a magnetic field. A sensor can be magnetically coupled with the magnet and positioned to detect the strength of the magnetic field emitted by the magnet. Based on the strength of the magnetic field detected by the sensor, the amount of bend or bend direction of the second motor housing assembly member relative to the first motor housing assembly member can be determined.

A bend angle sensing assembly for determining a downhole bend angle of a downhole adjustable bent housing. The bend angle sensing assembly includes a flow diverter having a plurality of diverter apertures for receiving drilling fluid, the flow diverter orientable to a plurality of diverter configurations in dependence on the bend angle of the associated downhole adjustable bent housing. Each of the plurality of diverter configurations have one or more of the plurality of diverter apertures opening or closing to form a corresponding flow path configuration, each flow path configuration having a different flow area whereby the pressure of the drilling fluid changes for each flow path configuration. Additionally, a pressure sensor is communicatively coupled to the drilling fluid.

A wellbore assembly is provided that can include a first motor housing assembly member and a second motor housing assembly member that can bend relative to the first motor housing assembly at a bend location. The assembly can also include a strain gauge positioned on a first side of the bend location to determine an amount of bend of the second motor housing assembly member relative to the first motor housing assembly member by determining a strain. Based on the strain, the amount of bend or bend direction of the second motor housing assembly member relative to the first motor housing assembly member can be determined.
