A system for mixing a first gas flow and a second gas flow includes a conduit defined by a wall for communicating the first gas flow therethrough, an inlet passing through the wall of the conduit for introducing the second gas flow into the conduit, and a valve body disposed within the conduit, the valve body being displaceable in a longitudinal direction with respect to the conduit at the inlet. The conduit includes a bend downstream of the body with respect to a direction of the mixed gas flow. A holder is operably connected at a first end thereof to a downstream end of the valve body, the holder passing through a bore in the wall of the conduit at the bend. An actuator is operably connected to a second end of the holder, the actuator causing, via the holder, the valve body to be displaced in the longitudinal direction.

Arrangement for mixing a first and second gas flow with downstream control

A gasoline engine system includes a gasoline engine, a throttle valve for metering a supply of combustion gas fed to the engine, and a source of metered fuel injected into the combustion gas mixture. The throttle valve includes an inlet air supply line, a recirculating exhaust gas supply line, and an output line. Air entering through the inlet air supply line and exhaust gas entering though the recirculating exhaust gas supply line mix to create a combustion gas mixture of air, fuel and exhaust gas before exiting the output line. A body is actuatable to control a proportion of air versus recirculating exhaust gas in the combustion gas mixture.

Exhaust gas recirculation system for gasoline engines

A system for controlling the mixture of an air flow and an exhaust gas flow in an engine is disclosed generally comprising an air conduit for the inlet air, which has an exhaust gas inlet passing through the wall thereof for introducing recirculating exhaust gas into the conduit, and a sleeve having an inlet end through which air enters the sleeve and an outlet end through which air exits the sleeve into the conduit, where the sleeve is movable along the conduit to vary the extent to which the outlet end thereof occludes the exhaust gas inlet, thereby regulating the introduction of exhaust gas into the air conduit, which in some embodiments, is completely closed off. In some embodiments, the outlet end of the sleeve is reduced, and certain embodiments include a streamlined body to regulate the air exiting the sleeve.

Movable sleeve exhaust gas recirculation system

A system for controlling the mixture of an air flow and an exhaust gas flow utilizing two valves, the first valve at least partially positioned in an air intake conduit and regulating the flow of fluid through the air conduit, and the second valve positioned in an exhaust gas recirculation conduit for regulating the flow of exhaust gas. The control scheme presenting a sequential or stepwise control sequence, where the first valve is actuated over a first pressure range and the second valve is actuated over a second pressure range such that valves operate in a sequential manner.

An arrangement for mixing a first and a second gas flow, for example, an inlet flow with a exhaust gas return flow in a diesel engine, comprising a line () for the first flow, an inlet () for the second flow in the line (), in order to achieve the mixing; a streamlined body () arranged to be displaced in the longitudinal direction of the line () at the inlet () in order to achieve a variable venturi effect and in this way a variable suction effect and mixture of the mixed flow; and actuating means for displacing the body forwards and backwards in the line. In order to minimise the need for throttling and the accompanying pressure losses, the streamlined body () and the supply part () are designed to achieve maximal throttling in the line () close to the inlet (), independently of the position of the body.
