Micro-climate monitoring system

A temperature sensor includes a polymer body for mounting the sensor to a mounting surface and positioning a temperature sensing element within a target fluid. The temperature sensing element may be positioned at the distal end of the polymer body and may be sealed from the fluid by a metal cap filled with a thermally conductive material. In this manner, the polymer body may thermally insulate the temperature sensing element and lead conductors within the polymer body from the mounting surface. The polymer body may also include a connector on the proximal end to facilitate an electrical connection with the temperature sensing element, a flange to install the sensor against the mounting surface, and a fixation surface configured to mate with the mounting surface. In some examples, the polymer body may be constructed in two stages to facilitate different configurations of the connector, flange, and/or fixation surface.

Thermally isolated temperature sensor

A temperature sensor and method of forming the same includes a temperature sensing portion having a metal housing configured with at least one circular fin on a surface of the metal housing. A temperature sensing element is generally associated with the temperature sensing portion, wherein a potting is located within a gap formed between the temperature sensing element and the metal housing and joined with a ceramic tube for carrying a plurality of high temperature metal lead wires to and from the temperature sensing portion, thereby forming a temperature sensor utilized in an exhaust gas environment to measure temperature and improve a response time and accuracy of the temperature sensor due to an increase in surface area of the sensor tip for a given thermal mass for convection heat transfer.

Temperature sensor that achieves a fast response in an exhaust gas environment

An apparatus for temperature sensing is disclosed that includes a sensor tube and a cable assembly connected to and extending from said sensor tube wherein said cable assembly communicates electrically with the sensor tube for temperature sensing operations thereof. An O-ring component can be selected based on an inner diameter of said sensor tube and an outer diameter of said cable assembly, wherein said o-ring component is crimped in order to seal and protect said sensor tube from de-alignment and misplacement and located co-axial to said sensor tube and said cable assembly, thereby providing an enhanced mechanical strength and prevention against leakage or ingress of moisture from or to said sensor tube.
