A device receives an identifier associated with a user device, and receives information associated with data usage by the user device. The device determines whether the data usage is sponsored by a sponsor based on the identifier and the information associated with the data usage. The sponsor sponsors data usage associated with particular content accessed by the user device. The device assigns charges for the data usage to an account associated with the user device when the data usage is not sponsored by the sponsor, or to an account associated with the sponsor when the data usage is sponsored by the sponsor.

Sponsoring data usage and usage of content provider web sites and applications

An exemplary method includes a content delivery system 1) detecting a request provided by an access device associated with a user to access network content by way of a network provided by a network service provider, the network content associated with a content provider and maintained by a content provider subsystem, 2) determining that a data usage charge for access by the user to the network content by way of the network is subsidized by the content provider in accordance with a subsidized access arrangement between the content provider and the network service provider, and 3) providing the user with subsidized access to the network content in accordance with a rule set associated with the subsidized access arrangement. Corresponding methods and systems are also disclosed.

Methods and systems for providing subsidized access to network content

A server device provides for display a user interface that includes multiple code snippets, where each of the multiple code snippets, when executed, causes a user device to perform one or more functions. The server device receives a selection of a particular code snippet from the multiple code snippets provided by the user interface, and associates the particular code snippet with content. The server device provides the content with the particular code snippet to the user device, and executes the particular code snippet to cause the user device to perform a particular function with another server device.

Provision of embedded code for content provider web sites and applications

A device receives, from a content server device, content information associated with content accessed by a user device, and information associated with utilization of a network path provided between the user device and the content server device. The device receives information associated with data usage by the user device for accessing the content, and determines whether the data usage is sponsored by a sponsor based on the content information and the information associated with the utilization of the network path. The sponsor sponsors data usage associated with particular content when the utilization of the network path is below a threshold. The device assigns charges for the data usage to an account associated with the user device when the data usage is not sponsored by the sponsor, or to an account associated with the sponsor when the data usage is sponsored by the sponsor.

Sponsoring usage of content provider web sites and applications based on network path utilization

An exemplary system includes at least one network device included in a network provider subsystem that provides an access device with access to a content processing subsystem by way of an access network. The network device is configured to receive a data flow from the content provider subsystem and directed to the access device by way of the access network, detect a code snippet embedded in the data flow, modify, based on the code snippet embedded in the data flow, content included in the data flow to activate at least one of an instant offer and an instant payment feature, and forward the modified data flow to the access device, the modified data flow configured to be processed by the access device to present the at least one of the instant offer and the instant payment feature to a user of the access device.

Systems and methods for facilitating instant commerce by way of a data path

A method, system and apparatus for internetworking WWAN and WLAN are disclosed. More specifically, a method, system, and apparatus for a mobile station to sense and select a WLAN or a WWAN are disclosed. A mobile station may communicate according to an 802.xx wireless local area network air interface protocol via WLAN logic or according to a wireless wide area network air interface protocol via WWAN logic. The mobile station detects RF energy in the 802.xx spectrum and, in response to the energy detection, determines whether there is an 802.xx WLAN capable of servicing the mobile station by performing a scanning operation. If there is an 802.xx WLAN capable of servicing the mobile station, the mobile station selects the WLAN logic so that it may communicate via an air interface. Under some embodiments, WWAN has information identifying the areas in which capable WLANs operate and the WWAN provisions the mobile station with at least a subset of such information. The mobile station uses such area-identifying information to determine whether to perform the RF energy detection operation. The information may be cell ids, or GPS information.
