Anti-cancer utility of HCG vaccines

A recombinant birth control vaccine comprising a beta subunit of chorionic gonadotropin, a recombinant luteinizing hormone or a mixture thereof has been developed. This recombinant birth control vaccine may also act as a vaccine against a protein or peptide unassociated with the mammalian reproductive system, such as a protein or peptide associated with a disease organism such as hepatitis B.

Recombinant birth control vaccine

An alternate approach to vasectomy for long term male contraception following a single intra-vas.application of a traditional plant (Azadirachta indica) product having immunomodulatory properties is described. The intra-vas administration of neem oil to male rats resulted in a block of spermatogenesis without affecting the testosterone production; the seminiferous tubules, although reduced in diameter, appeared normal and contained mostly early spermatogenic cells. No antisperm antibody could be detected in the serum. Unilateral administration of neem oil in the vas resulted in a significant reduction of testicular size and spermatogenic block only on the side of application; the draining lymph node cells of the treated side also showed enhanced proliferative response to in vitro mitogen challenge. These results indicate that intra-vas application of neem oil is effective in blocking fertility in male mammals after a single injection.

Neem oil as a male contraceptive

There is provided a means for reversible fertility control for prevention of pregnancy in female mammals for several months through the use of neem oil or its components, applied locally to the uterus. There is also provided a spermicidal composition containing neem oil or its components in combination with reetha extract as a vaginal cream.

Reversible fertility control for prevention of pregnancy in females

A polyvalent vaccine for control of fertility is disclosed, the vaccine having a multiplicity of determinant antigens in the reproductive system of mammals, the antigens being linked to at least one carrier. The precise manner of linkage can differ, and preferably more than one carrier is present thereby increasing antibody response particularly in those subjects who are poor responders when a single carrier only is used. The new vaccine thus has a multi-valent capability against the reproductive system and also preferably the capability of producing immunoprophylactic benefit against more than one health hazard.

Birth control vaccine

Method of purifying the beta sub-unit of chorionic gondotropin which includes contacting a preparation of the beta sub-unit of chorionic gonadotropin with an insolubilized anti alpha sub-unit of chorionic gondotropin serum and the highly purified beta sub-unit of chorionic gonadotropin obtained by this method.

Sterilization process for mammals

A vaccine comprising a conjugate of an antigenic carrier with beta sub-unit of human chorionic gonadotropin, or derivatives or fragments thereof, purified by procedures which minimize cross-reactivity with LH, such as immunosorption with heterologous LH antiserum prior to conjugation, and a process for making the vaccine. In addition, a process for preventing pregnancy using said vaccine is described.
