A system and method for controlling rotor dynamics at a rotor assembly. The system includes a magnetic actuator and a controller. The magnetic actuator is positioned in magnetic communication with the rotor assembly and is configured to obtain a measurement vector corresponding to the rotor assembly and a measurement vector indicative of a rotor dynamics parameter. The magnetic actuator is further configured to selectively output an electromagnetic force at the rotor assembly. The controller is configured to store and execute instructions. The instructions include outputting, via the magnetic actuator, a baseline electromagnetic force to the rotor assembly; obtaining the measurement vector at the rotor assembly from the magnetic actuator; determining non-synchronous vibrations corresponding to the rotor assembly based at least on the measurement vector and a rotor speed of the rotor assembly; determining cross coupled stiffness corresponding to the rotor assembly based at least on the measurement vector, the rotor speed, and a predetermined rotor dynamics model of the rotor assembly; determining an adjusted electromagnetic force of the rotor assembly based at least on the cross coupled stiffness and a damping factor corresponding to the electromagnetic force output from the magnetic actuator; and generating an output signal corresponding to the adjusted electromagnetic force to the rotor assembly.

Method and system for rotor stabilization

A fuel metering system for a combustion section of a turbo machine is provided. The turbo machine includes a main fuel line configured to provide a flow of fuel and a zone fuel line split from the main fuel line through which at least a portion of the flow of fuel is provided. A fuel valve is disposed at the zone fuel line and is configured to obtain and receive a present fuel valve area value and a present valve position value. A first pressure sensor is disposed upstream of the fuel valve, in which the first pressure sensor is configured to obtain a first pressure value. A second pressure sensor is disposed downstream of the fuel valve, in which the second pressure sensor is configured to obtain a second pressure value. A flow meter is disposed downstream of the fuel valve. A controller is configured to perform operations, in which the operations include determining a demanded fuel valve actuator position based at least on an estimated fuel valve actuator position and a demanded fuel flow; comparing the demanded fuel flow and a present fuel flow; determining an actual fuel valve actuator position based at least on the demanded fuel valve actuator position and the compared demanded fuel flow and present fuel flow; and generating an valve effective area at the fuel valve based at least on the actual fuel valve actuator position.

A method of tracking variable states of a gas turbine engine in transient conditions includes obtaining input data representative of rotor velocity and pressure ratio; calculating a reference transient scheduled trajectory based on the input data; calculating a speed reference transient scheduled trajectory based on the input data; calculating a feedforward variable based on the reference transient scheduled trajectory; obtaining a feedback control variable; and determining a control variable based on a combination of the feedforward variable and the feedback control variable.
