An electronic device may receive a frame associated with a second electronic device. This frame may include a MAC header with information specifying a request for a trigger or a trigger frame, and the information may include a suggested time interval during which the trigger or the trigger frame is to be provided and a requested resource allocation. For example, the MAC header may include an A-control field, and the A-control field may include the information or may include multiple A-MPDUs and one or more of the A-MPDUs (such as a last A-MPDU or all of the A-MPDUs) may include the information. Moreover, the time interval may begin at a previous transmission associated with the second electronic device, and the requested resource allocation may include a capacity. In response to the request, the electronic device may provide the trigger or the trigger frame addressed to the second electronic device.

Low-latency communication in a WLAN

A first device may include a processor, a first wireless network interface, and a second wireless network interface. The processor may be configured to, while associating with the access point over a first wireless network on a first channel via the first wireless network interface, establish a second wireless network via the second wireless network interface. A group of client devices including one or more client devices can join the second wireless network on the first channel via the second wireless network interface. The processor may be configured to receive, via the first wireless network interface, first information from the access point. The processor may be configured to send, via the second wireless network interface, the first information to the group of client devices.

Subgroup wireless operations on dynamic frequency selection (DFS) channels

Some embodiments include utilizing a multilink media access control (MAC) address structure to support multilink devices (MLDs) that can operate concurrently in more than one link such as extremely high throughput (EHT) access points (APs) and EHT stations (STA), where the multilink MAC address structure is compatible with legacy devices. An EHT AP can utilize a multilink basic service set (BSS) identification (BSSID) MAC address to communicate with an EHT STA identified by a multilink MAC address. Values of the multilink BSSID and the multilink MAC address of the EHT STA are independent of which of the multiple links are used in the communication. In addition, to utilizing a multilink BSSID, the EHT AP can also support unique link-specific MAC addresses to concurrently support legacy and MLD stations. The EHT STA can also utilize unique link-specific MAC addresses that can be different than the EHT AP's link-specific MAC addresses.

System and method for multilink devices

Some embodiments include an apparatus and method for a mobile access point (AP) station that operates in an always-on soft AP mode where a station is associated with the mobile AP station, and switch back to operate as a station in an infrastructure mode with an AP. For example, in an always-on soft AP mode, the mobile AP station may implement a target wake time (TWT) responder power save mode feature. The mobile AP station may maintain a wake window after a beacon to enable unassociated devices to associate; establish a broadcast TWT schedule for unassociated TWT-capable devices to associate; schedule TWT for associated devices; go to sleep outside of the scheduled TWT of the associated devices; and switch back to infrastructure mode to perform as a station and maintain a connection with an AP.

Apparatus, method, and medium for mobile access point station

The subject technology provides for block acknowledgment requests and block acknowledgment frames that can be used in conjunction with multicast transmissions that include multiple concurrent streams. Thus, the subject technology reduces the overhead associated with multicast transmissions that include multiple concurrent streams by aggregating the acknowledgments across multiple streams into a block acknowledgment, thereby increasing the effective throughput of such transmissions and overall network efficiency.

This disclosure relates to methods for conducting multilink communications between a user equipment device (UE) and a wireless access point (AP) over a wireless local area network (WLAN). The UE establishes a connection with an access point through a WLAN, wherein the connection utilizes a plurality of links. The UE transmits an indication to the access point through a first link of the plurality of links, where the indication specifies one or more available links of the plurality of links that are available for the UE to receive downlink (DL) communications from the access point. The UE receives one or more DL communications from the access point through at least one of the one or more available links.

Power savings for multi-link wireless local area network infrastructure

Some embodiments of this disclosure include apparatuses and methods for implementing discovery frames and group addressed frames communication. For example, some embodiments relate to a method including generating a first frame to be transmitted to a first electronic device. An association identifier (AID) value of the first frame is set to a first value to indicate that the first frame is an individually addressed frame addressed to the first electronic device. The method further includes generating a second frame to be transmitted to a group of one or more electronic devices. An AID value of the second frame is set to a second value different from the first value. The method also includes transmitting the first frame and the second frame.

Discovery frames and group addressed frames transmission

One or more wireless stations operate to configure Neighbor Awareness Networking (NAN)—direct communication with neighboring wireless stations, i.e., direct communication between the wireless stations without utilizing an intermediate access point. Embodiments of the disclosure relate to reciprocating service between two or more wireless stations. The reciprocating service embodiments described herein provide a mechanism through which devices can participate in a same service instant.

Systems and methods for managing power consumption of device subsystems include a device which maintains one or more constraint metric tables for applications executable on the device. Each of the one or more constraint metric tables may specify respective power levels for subsystems of the device according to a respective application or an application type of the respective application. The device may determine to operate the device at a reduced power level for a first application, based on a condition for the device satisfying at least one of a thermal threshold criteria or a power threshold criteria when the device operates at full power level. The device may apply a constraint metric responsive to determining to operate at the reduced power level, to cause a subset of the plurality of subsystems to adjust a power consumption level according to a first constraint metric table corresponding to the first application.

Systems and methods for managing power consumption of device subsystems

An electronic device (such as an access point) may provide a management frame, intended for at least a recipient electronic device, that includes slotted-operation information corresponding to a power-save mode of the electronic device for communication with at least the recipient electronic device. The slotted-operation information may include a sequence of temporal slots and associated channel information for the temporal slots. When a channel for a temporal slot comprises a null value, the power-save mode may include transitioning the electronic device into a lower-power-consumption mode during the temporal slot. Alternatively, when a channel for a temporal slot is different than a null value, the power-save mode may include performing another activity than communicating with the recipient electronic device during the temporal slot.

Methods for performing negative acknowledgements (NACKs) in a Wi-Fi based network may include a wireless device receiving, from a neighboring wireless device, a transmission schedule associated with receipt of data packets from the neighboring wireless device. The transmission schedule may include a timeout period associated with transmission of the data packets and/or a start time of the transmission schedule. The method may also include the wireless device determining an error condition associated with the data packets. The error condition may be, for example, non-receipt of any packet (e.g., data packets and/or non-data packets) prior to expiration of the timeout period and/or detection of a gap in sequence numbers associated with the data packets. The method may further include the wireless device, based on the error condition, transmitting a NACK. The NACK may be (or include) a negative block ACK (N-BA) bitmap indicating which data packets were not successfully received.

Some aspects of this disclosure include apparatuses and methods for implementing backup link establishment and operation for multi-link wireless communication networks such as a wireless local area network (WLAN). Some aspects relate to an electronic device including a transceiver configured to communicate over a wireless network and a processor communicatively coupled to the transceiver. The processor receives a message including information associated with a backup link from a second electronic device. The processor further receives data associated with data traffic from the second electronic device on a primary link of the wireless network. In response to a quality of the primary link being below a threshold, the processor receives a notification frame from the second electronic device on the backup link and receives additional data associated with the data traffic from the second electronic device on the backup link or on an other link informed by the notification frame.

System and method for multilink devices (MLDs)

An interface circuit in an electronic device (such as an access point) may receive a setup request associated with the recipient electronic device. The setup request may specify a group address for which the recipient electronic device wants to receive associated frames and a proposed transmission interval. Based at least in part on the proposed transmission interval, the electronic device may determine a transmission schedule and/or may assign, based at least in part on the group address, the recipient electronic device to an aggregated group having a flexible multicast service identifier (FMSID). Then, the electronic device may provide a wake-up frame for the recipient electronic device, where the wake-up frame includes an identifier of the aggregated group for which a group-addressed frame will subsequently be transmitted by the electronic device. Moreover, the wake-up frame may be provided at a transmission time based at least in part on the transmission schedule.
