A microfluidic valve provided herein is configured to mix or capable of mixing a sample and/or a reagent in addition to controlling liquid flow. In one embodiment, the microfluidic valve comprises a rotor () and one or more micro-structures () that move with the rotation of the rotor (). In one embodiment, the one or more micro-structures () stir and/or mix content in a mixing chamber () formed by the rotor (), a base (), and a sleeve () of the microfluidic valve. A microfluidic chip or chip system comprising one or more of the microfluidic valves, and methods of use, are also provided.

Methods and devices use in two-color measurement systems. The methods and devices include methods of making corrections, methods of calculating correction factors, fluorescence scanners, and microarray chips. The said methods and devices enable a user to correct fluorescence intensities for errors caused by the occurrence of FRET and/or cross-talk when two fluorophores are used in two-color fluorescence arrays.

Reliable fluorescence correction method for two-color measurement fluorescence system

A multi-index detection microfluidic chip is provided. A bottom plate () and a cover plate () that matches the bottom plate () and seals it are provided in the microfluidic chip. The center of the microfluidic chip has a through-hole (). Multi-index detection microfluidic chip and methods of use

In one aspect, disclosed herein are devices, systems, and methods for assessing human health states based on non-shadow imaging of sclera, or whites, of one or both eyes. In one aspect, the device is an on-body device. In one aspect, the system comprises a positioning aperture, an illuminating apparatus, an imaging apparatus, and/or a processing apparatus. In one aspect, the process only takes a short period of time to take images of the sclera without any operation of splicing multiple images. In one aspect, the device or system improves the quality of images by avoiding the formation of reflection of the illuminating apparatus on the images of the sclera. In a further aspect, the system can utilize the sclera images to obtain information of eye diseases and to predict the physiological and pathological changes in the health status of subject or diagnostic results, which can provide helpful information for medical diagnosis.

Provided is a microfluidic chip, which comprises a substrate and a cover sheet, wherein a microreactor array is arranged on the substrate and comprises at least one main channel () and at least two micro cells () connected to the main channel (). The invention provides a scanning platform for high speed scanning of microarrays. The platform uses a novel flexible a metal strip/wheel linear driving system to convert rotary movement of motors into linear movement, thereby drives movement of a stage/microarray in the direction of scanning. The platform of the present invention provides high movement speed, high resolution, and low return deviation. It is also simple in structure and low in manufacturing cost.

The invention provides a novel optical system for use in a microarray scanner, comprising an aperture-containing reflecting mirror comprising an aperture and a reflecting surface. The aperture of the aperture-containing reflecting mirror allows an excitation light to pass through, and the reflecting surface of the aperture-containing reflecting mirror allows emission light from a microarray to be reflected. The optical system may also comprises various other components such as laser generators, beam splitter, reflecting mirrors, excitation and emission light filters, excitation and emission objective lens, pinhole, and detector. The optical system described herein has high efficiency, high sensitivity, low background noise, structurally simple, and high versatility.

The invention provides a laser microarray scanner for microarray scanning, comprising an optical system, a scanning platform, and a data processing system. During scanning, the optical system remains fixed, and the microarray placed on the scanning platform moves relative to the optical system. The microarray scanner disclosed herein has high scanning speed, high sensitivity, high resolution, and high signal-to-noise ratio, thus is ideal for use in microarray scanning
