A light-emitting device includes a plurality of light-emitting elements or light sources and a flexible pad for positioning and conforming the light-emitting device to a portion of a body of a user. The flexible pad includes a three-dimensional structure having a plurality of protrusions for contacting a skin of the portion of the body when the light-emitting device is applied to the portion of the body by the flexible pad. Further, the three-dimensional structure includes a plurality of recesses for creating a clearance between the skin and the flexible pad when the light-emitting device is applied to the portion of the body, and a plurality of apertures for engaging with the plurality of light-emitting elements. Each protrusion includes an extended part and a withdrawn part, where the extended part is further extended than the withdrawn part, and the extended part is configured to contact the skin.

Electronic textile and method of manufacturing an electronic textile

A method of biostimulating phototherapy is provided. The method comprises illuminating a subject's body portion () with light having a first wavelength in the range of 600-900 nm () and reducing and preventing hyperthermia of the body portion by illuminating the body portion with light having a second wavelength which is at least one of in the range of 400-600 nm and in the range of 900-2500 nm (). Further, a phototherapy device () is provided which comprises a first light source () and a second light source (). The first light source is configured to emit light () having a first wavelength which is in the range of 600-900 nm. The second light source is configured to emit light () having a second wavelength which is at least one of in the range of 400-600 nm and in the range of 900-2500 nm.

Phototherapy method and device

According to the present invention, an electronic textile () is provided. The electronic textile comprises an electronic structure () including conductive wires () being at least partly spaced apart from each other and one or more electronic components () connected to the conductive wires. One or more gaps () are formed in the electronic structure between the at least partly spaced apart conductive wires. The electronic textile further comprises a fabric structure () including two fabric portions (), wherein the electronic structure is sandwiched between the two fabric portions. Further, the two fabric portions are joined together according to a bonding pattern including bonding segments (), the bonding segments being arranged in one or more of the gaps of the electronic structure such that the electronic structure is held in place in the fabric structure by the bonding pattern. With the present invention, the separation of the electronics from the fabric is made easier, which is advantageous in that waste sorting of the electronic textile is facilitated.

An electrophoretic display panel and a method for driving an electrophoretic display panel in which the drive pulse, i.e. the grey scale pulse, to bring an element from a preceding optical state to an optical state is split in more than one sub-pulses. A more gradual introduction of the grey scale is thereby achieved reducing the suddenness of the transition form one image to another. Preferably application of the grey scale potential differences is preceded by application of reset pulses in which case the preceding optical state is an extreme optical state.

To protect the transistors () against these increased driving voltages, a setting signal (S, S) is supplied to the pixel electrode () via the transistor () for reducing a voltage across the pixel () resulting from a transition in the alternating voltage signal (V). During driving frame periods (F) data pulses (D, D, D, D, D, D) are supplied, and during setting frame periods (F), the setting signals (S, S) are supplied.

Electrophoretic display unit

The electrophoretic display panel () for displaying a picture and a subsequent picture has drive means () which are able to control for each pixel () the potential difference to have a picture value to provide the pixels () with a respective picture appearance being either extreme or intermediate, subsequently to have an inter-picture value to provide the pixels () with a respective inter-picture appearance, and subsequently to have a subsequent picture value. For the display panel () to be able to provide the pixels () with the inter-picture appearances which are in general relatively little visible, the drive means () are able to control for each pixel () an estimate potential difference as the inter-picture value to provide the pixels () with a respective estimate picture appearance as the inter-picture appearance.

Electrophoretic display panel

An electrophoretic display has at least one pixel () which comprises electrophoretic material (), a first electrode () and a second electrode (). An addressing circuit () addresses the at least one pixel () by applying between the first electrode () and the second electrode (): (i) a drive pulse (Vdr) with a level in accordance with an optical state to be reached by the at least one pixel (), and (ii) a series of shaking pulses (SP) which have an energy content depending on an optical state of the at least one pixel ().

Electrophoretic display device and driving method therefor

An electrophoretic display having charged particles that are able to occupy, between a first and second electrode, two limit positions and intermediate positions between the two limit positions which are defined by a drive voltage. An addressing circuit generates the drive voltage waveform by successively applying between the first electrode and the second electrode, during an image update period, a reset pulse enabling particles of the display to substantially occupy one of the limit positions, and a drive pulse having a level in accordance with an optical state to be reached by one of the pixels. The addressing circuit generates a first shaking pulse having at least one preset pulse having energy sufficient to release particles present in one of the limit positions, but insufficient to enable the particles to reach the other one of the extreme limit positions.

Electrophoretic display and a method of shaking an electrophoretic display from an extreme position

An image is updated on a bi-stable display () such as an electrophoretic display in successive frame periods by accessing data defining a set of voltage waveforms for the successive frame periods. At least a portion of the bi-stable display is driven during the successive frame periods according to the accessed data so that a longer frame period (FT,) is used during at least a first portion of the voltage waveforms, and a shorter frame period (FT') is used during at least a second portion of the voltage waveforms. For example, the longer frame period may be an elongated frame period, which is the longest period during which each of the voltage waveforms has a respective constant voltage value.

Driving method for an electrophoretic display with accurate greyscale and minimized average power consumption

An electrophoretic display () and a system () implement a method of activating a portion of the electrophoretic display (). The method involves a reception of drawing information (), a determination of at least one drawing-mode waveform () based on the drawing information (), and an addressing of the electrophoretic display () based on the received drawing information () and the drawing-mode waveform ().

An electrophoretic display that is switchable between a grayscale updating mode and a monochrome updating mode. The monochrome updating mode provides for extreme pixel states only including black and white, whereas the grayscale updating mode provides for an intermediate grayscale pixel state. A suitably selected transition signal is applied when switching from the grayscale updating mode to the monochrome updating mode. The transition signal involves a drive pulse that serves to reduce the level of remnant DC voltage otherwise occurring in each pixel due to differences in the grayscale updating mode and the monochrome updating mode.

Bi-stable electrophoretic display device () having a normal mode and a scrolling mode, in which image transitions are effected by causing the charged particles () to toggle between the intermediate optical states (e.g. grey-to-grey) or between an extreme optical state and an intermediate optical state (e.g. white-to-light grey), with a corresponding short update time t. When the device () enters a scrolling mode in response to a scrolling command from a user, picture elements are first driven to a special scrolling optical. state, after which drive waveforms for scrolling mode are used for fast toggling between two scrolling states. An increased scrolling speed and very short scrolling time can be realized, without adversely affecting image quality during a normal mode.
