A method of forming solder paste on an object is provided. The method includes providing a multilayered stencil, each stencil layer having an aperture formed therethrough from a top surface of the respective stencil layer to a bottom surface of the stencil layer. The method also includes applying the stencil to a surface of the object. The method also includes filling a void space formed by a combination of the apertures in the stencil layers with solder paste. The method also includes removing the stencil layers in a sequential manner to leave the solder paste.

A data transmission method and apparatus are disclosed that resolves a technical problem where an existing data encryption algorithm offers poor security during transmission of data. The OLT is configured to monitor wavelengths in use by the ONUs and to divide upstream traffic from the ONUs into multiple channels using tunable filters. Also disclosed is an OLT for a PON, the OLT comprising a plurality of receivers and a plurality of tunable filters corresponding to each of the receivers. The OLT also comprises channel control logic coupled to the tunable filters, wherein the channel control logic is configured to detect a plurality of wavelengths in use for upstream traffic in the PON and to divide the upstream traffic into multiple channels using the tunable filters. Included is a method for managing upstream traffic in a PON, the method comprising monitoring, by a processor, wavelengths in use for upstream traffic in the PON. The method also comprises dividing the upstream traffic into multiple channels using tunable filters.

This invention provides a method for upgrading the network rate of a Passive Optical Network (PON), which mainly includes: upgrading the optical fiber line rate of the central office device, and adapting, by the network terminal device, the working rate of the upstream/downstream line automatically to the optical fiber line rate of the central office device according to a downstream data flow transmitted from the central office device. Using the method of this invention, the network rate of the PON can be upgraded without replacing the network terminal and without a manual intervention.
