A display module is provided. The display module includes a substrate including a mounting surface, on which a plurality of inorganic light emitting devices is mounted, and a side surface; a front cover covering the mounting surface and including a side end that is in a region outwards from the mounting surface; a side cover covering the side surface of the substrate and bonded to a lower surface of the front cover, corresponding to the region outwards from the mounting surface, and the side surface of the substrate; and a light absorbing end member covering the side end of the front cover and configured to prevent light, emitted from the plurality of inorganic light emitting devices, from passing through the side end of the front cover.

Display apparatus including display module and manufacturing method thereof

A display module includes: a substrate including a mounting surface on which a plurality of inorganic light-emitting diodes emitting light in a first direction are mounted, a side surface, and a rear surface being opposite to the mounting surface; a front cover bonded with the mounting surface and covering the mounting surface in the first direction; a metal plate bonded with the rear surface; a side cover surrounding the side surface; and a side end member covering at least one portion of the side cover and extending in a second direction being orthogonal to the first direction along the side surface, wherein the side end member includes a body extending in the second direction, and a plurality of ribs extending from the body in the first direction and arranged at intervals along the second direction.

Display apparatus having display module and manufacturing method thereof

A display module includes: a substrate having a mounting surface, four side surfaces, and a rear surface opposite to the mounting surface, the substrate including a thin film transistor layer (TFT) provided on the mounting surface; a plurality of inorganic light-emitting diodes provided on the mounting surface of the substrate; a side wiring electrically connected to the TFT layer and extending along a first pair of side surfaces among the four side surfaces of the substrate; a front cover covering the TFT layer and the plurality of inorganic light emitting devices in a first direction; a metal plate provided on the rear surface of the substrate; a side cover covering the side wiring and the four side surfaces; and a side member provided on a side of the side cover and grounded to the metal plate, wherein the side member is provided on a first side surface of the first pair of side surfaces along which the side wiring extends among the four side surfaces.

The display apparatus including a microelectromechanical (MEMS) shutter is disclosed. The MEMS shutter is shifted by the switching element in a horizontal direction corresponding to the light control area to turn on or turn off the light control area. A first slit transmits light generated from the light source to the MEMS shutter of a first substrate and a second slit of a second substrate corresponding to the first slit provides apertures by overlapping the first slit and the second slit. The apertures of the MEMS shutter are distributed on a two dimensional plane and form a geometrically symmetric pattern that are capable of enhancing light-use efficiency.

MEMS shutter and display apparatus having the same

In a backlight assembly, a light emitting module is divided into a plurality of light generating blocks each sequentially outputting a plurality of primary colors of light having different wavelengths. The light emitting module includes first and second base substrates, and a plurality of electroluminescent units disposed between the first and second base substrates and arranged in each of the light generating blocks. The light emitting module includes a barrier arranged corresponding to a boundary between two adjacent light generating blocks between the first and second base substrates to prevent the primary colors of light from traveling an adjacent light generating block. Thus, a mixture of colored light from the light generating blocks is prevented, thereby improving color reproducibility of the display apparatus.

Backlight assembly and display apparatus having the same

A micro-shutter includes a reflective layer, a shutter, and a first actuator. The reflective layer includes a plurality of first openings transmitting a portion of external light, and reflecting the remaining portion of the external light. The shutter includes a plurality of second openings corresponding to the first openings to transmit the portion of the external light. The first actuator is provided at one side of the shutter and includes at least three electrodes. The first actuator adjusts an overlap area between the first openings and the second openings according to a level of a voltage applied to the actuator electrodes.

Micro-shutter and display apparatus having the same

A field emitting device includes a base substrate and at least three light emitting units and configured to respectively emit at least three lights having different wavelengths from each other. Each light emitting unit includes a first electrode arranged on the base substrate, a field emitter arranged on the base substrate, an insulating layer arranged on the first electrode and including an opening to expose the field emitter, a second electrode arranged on the insulating later to control an operation of the field emitter, a third electrode facing the first electrode, and a fluorescent layer arranged on a surface of the third electrode facing the first electrode. A transmissive area is located between the florescent layers of two adjacent light emitting units.
