Described is a distance-measuring device and a method for determining a distance, which uses a sensor in the form of a cavity resonator to continuously perform a distance determination and allows diverse possible uses.

Distance measuring device and method for determining a distance

A distance measuring device is capable of measuring a distance to a piston with a cylinder both discretely and continuously. The distance measuring device includes a coupling probe located axially symmetrically with respect to a piston rod within the cylinder. The coupling probe transmits a continuous wave electromagnetic signal into the cylinder and detects its reflection to measure the distance to the piston while the piston is moving.

The present invention pertains to a radar range finder for high-precision, contactless range measurement, which is based on the FMCW principle and operates with digital signal processing at a limited frequency shift. One exemplary embodiment is described.

In the sensor arrangement of the above constructive type, the cardan frame system and the sensor which is axially offset ahead thereof, are supported by paired spherical surfaces which are passed through by a spine passageway and are interconnected through the intermediary of a parallelogram linkage.
