An apparatus, a corresponding system, and a method for reading out X-ray information stored in a storage phosphor panel includes an input device, into which a cassette with a storage phosphor panel therein can be input, and a read-out device, in which the storage phosphor panel can be irradiated with stimulation light and the emission light excited in the storage phosphor panel is detected. In order to enable the cassette that has been input to be locked and/or opened as reliably as possible in conjunction with a simplified construction, at least one mechanical element which can be mechanically driven by a movement of the cassette upon the cassette being input into the input device locks and/or opens the cassette in the input device.

An apparatus () for reading out, in a time-saving and reliable way, X-ray information stored in storage phosphor plates with an input unit () in which a plurality of cassettes () in which a storage phosphor plate to be read out is respectively located, can be input. A storage phosphor plate includes: a storage phosphor layer for the storage of X-ray information; and a substrate layer onto which the storage phosphor layer is applied. The substrate layer includes a fibre composite which is made from a synthetic material reinforced with fibres in the form of a woven fabric.

The invention relates to a cassette, in particular an X-ray cassette, for receiving a storage fluorescent screen. The cassette has on one of its narrow sides an opening through which the storage fluorescent screen is to be inserted into or removed from the cassette. The opening is closable by a flap which is displaceable between a closed position in which it closes the opening and a release position in which it releases the opening for insertion or removal of the storage fluorescent screen. For this purpose the flap is mounted swivellably to the transition between the narrow side of the cassette provided with the opening and the base of the cassette or the cassette lid.
