A coordinate measuring machine with a base frame which is essentially constructed in the mode of a portal or gantry-type structure which concurrently forms a measuring table, and with a cross-carrier which spans over the measuring table and receives a measuring carriage with a spindle, and which supports itself with one arm on a guideway located in front of the measuring table.

Coordinate measuring machine

A coordinate measuring machine has supporting members movable in a plurality of coordinate directions which are each made of welded steel construction. Surfaces of the supporting members are covered by sheet metal shells which are spaced by a small distance away from the supporting members and form an air space thereover. This reduces the adverse influences of temperature induced expansions and contractions.

For accurately determining the position of a measuring head 14, a multicoordinate measuring machine has an additional measuring device, which essentially is formed by a scanning head 19 having a measuring probe 20, and inserted in a beam 16. The position of a cross arm 6 in a distance A is determined by means of the measuring probe 20 and is passed on over an amplifier 22 to a computer 25 for control and display purposes. The coordinate measuring machine operates with only one length scale 5. The cross arm 6 is supported at its ends and without play on carriages 11 and 12, which can be moved in the X direction in guiding systems 3 and 4, which are arranged parallel to each other.

Multicoordinate measuring machine

A portal type coordinate measuring machine includes a column on each side of a measuring table which is movable by a synchronous belt drive connected to each column. A drive motor is centrally mounted on a bridge portion overlying the columns and it drives a horizontal shaft which extends to each column and effects the rotation of a drive pinion which engages a gear belt which extends parallel to each column and is carried by the column. The drive includes a toothed belt or gear belt which is disposed parallel to the guiding ways for the columns and has its ends firmly clamped on the bridge and an active central portion which extends around a drive pinion which is tensioned on respective sides of the drive pinion by tension rolls.

Portal type coordinate measuring machine

A measuring process for evaluation of the machining capability or quality of multi-spindle rotary machining or turning unit utilized for the production of preferably rotationally-symmetrical workpieces which are to be finished on both sides, and for the intermediate and/or final evaluation of workpieces which are finished in that manner. Furthermore, the invention also relates to a measuring installation for the implementation of this measuring process. The foregoing objects are inventively achieved in the measuring installation which is independently programmable relative to the multi-spindle rotary machining unit, measures multi-dimensionally and is autonomous in itself, is roughly positioned in front of the applicable workpiece pickup arrangement of the multi-spindle rotary machining unit, and through sensing with measuring feelers of the measuring installation at predetermined reference points, measures in a first step the correctly positioned pickup of the workpiece which is clamped into the workpiece pickup device, and decides with regard whether the turning is to be effected, through providing a signal to the control arrangement of the multi-spindle rotary machining unit, and the workpiece after the effected turning in a second step, so as to decide with regard to its further treatment through a signal transmission to the control arrangement of the multi-spindle rotary machining unit.

Measuring process for the inspection of turned parts finished on both

A coordinate measuring apparatus comprises a frame substantially formed by a rectangular prismatic body and an indexing rotary table which is connected to the front side portion of the prismatic body to form an L-shaped structure. Above the prismatic body, a cantilever arm projects over the rotary table. The cantilever arm is movable at its level, perpendicularly to its longitudinal axis and carries a tail spindle which is equipped with a measuring head. The clear construction of the apparatus which is easy to survey and with its overhead guideways, is an ideal arrangement for applying a linear measuring system.

Coordinate measuring apparatus

The coordinate measuring machine comprises a basic frame structure including a bearing portion having a steel track with a crossbeam support for traveling on the steel track which carries a spindle sleeve. At least one of the frame structure parts comprises a cast resin concrete with a steel track embedded in the cast part. The composition of the synthetic resin concrete at least in the zones adjacent the steel track is such that the coefficient of thermal expansion of the concrete is substantially equal to that of the steel track.

An arrangement for the measuring and correction of the steering geometry of motor vehicles, in particular their alignment and camber angles, through the intermediary of mechanical components associated with each wheel of a wheel pair and which serves for the scanning of the actual value of the wheel angles, whereby the values determined in this manner are converted into electrical signals through the utilization of data pick-ups and are then displayed. This arrangement essentially inventively consists of in that in the measuring of the steering geometry provided as the measuring basis on the wheel suspension of a wheel pair with the utilization, for instance, of individually adjustable wheel positioning elements, of which each is connected with a carriage extending transverse of the travelling direction of the wheels and supporting the actual value scanning elements, and in which one of the two wheel positioning elements has associated therewith a longitudinal measuring system serving for the correction of the alignment angle (.alpha.), during the displacement of which there is produced a correction angle (.alpha..sub.k) in a calculator connected to the output thereof, and in conjunction with the actual value wheel angle (.alpha.) separately obtained for each wheel of the wheel pairs superimposes itself in the counters associated with the calculator as well as with the measured value pick-ups associated with the inherent wheels, and which are displayed as a real correcting magnitude, whereas the actual value wheel angle (.beta.) of each wheel is conveyed directly to the counters.
