A printing press is comprised of at least one dry offset printing unit. At least two different webs can be fed through the dry offset printing unit. In a first production mode 'C' of the printing press, a first web is fed through the dry offset printing unit without a subsequent drying process. In a second production mode 'H' of the printing press, a second web is fed through the dry offset printing unit and through an active dryer. In both the first and second production modes &#x201c;C&#x201d;, &#x201c;H&#x201d;, an inking unit of the printing unit is filled with the same ink.

A printing system is provided with a first printing machine that includes at least one printing unit and a first folding funnel which is located at an exit of the printing unit. A second printing machine, with a second printing unit and a drier, together with a folding funnel at its exit, is also part of the printing system. The first and second folding funnels differ from each other in the number of formers that are placed next to each other in a machine plane, or vary in an effective width of one or more folders. A web, or a partial web, which is printed by the second printing unit, and which is guided through the drier, can be guided either to the second folding funnel structure, or can be guided to the first folding funnel structure, which differs from the second funnel structure in at least one of numbers and width.

Printing machine system

A printing system includes a first printing machine that is provided in the form of a newspaper printing machine and which comprises at least two first printing units that are provided in the form of printing towers and with a number of printing machines arranged one above the other for effecting double-sided printing of a substrate in multiple colors. A first folding funnel is arranged in a machine exit of these first printing units. A second printing machine is provided with at least one second printing unit and with a dryer that is situated in the machine exit of the second printing unit. The at least one second printing unit is positioned with respect to its printing location, and when viewed from above, is arranged next to the machine exit of the first printing units provided in the form of printing towers. A web, or a partial web, which has been printed by the second printing unit, and which has passed through the dryer, can be diverted by 90&#xb0; from a direction of conveyance that is perpendicular to a machine exit and can be guided in a direction of conveyance that is parallel to the machine exit.

A printing machine system includes a first printing machine which has at least one first printing unit and a first fold forming funnel and that is arranged in the machine alignment of the at least first printing unit. A second printing machine, which has at least one second printing unit, and a second fold forming funnel, is also provided in the printing machine system. The second fold forming funnel is in machine alignment with the at least one second printing unit. The printing group cylinders of the first and second printing units are positioned substantially orthogonally in relationship to each other in their axial directions. The two fold forming funnel structures are positioned substantially orthogonally in respect to each other in a line running in a direction of material web transport as projected onto a horizontal plane.

A printing machine system includes a first printing machine which is configured as a newspaper printing machine and which has at least two first printing units that are structured as printing towers, each with a plurality of superimposed printing groups that are usable for multicolor printing. The first printing machine also includes a first folder structure which is arranged in a machine alignment of the at least two first printing units. A second printing machine has at least one second printing unit and a second folder structure. The first printing units and the at least one second printing unit are arranged in one row. The first printing units, which are configured as printing towers, differ from the at least one second printing unit in at least one of their effective printing length and a circumference of imaging printing group cylinders.

A rotary printing press is usable for producing a newspaper product in tabloid format. The printing press has at least one printing unit which is configured so that it prints a web with printed pages in a horizontal tabloid format. A part web, which is formed by slitting a web, is provided with a fold by a plough folder and that is arranged in the path of travel of the web. The web is folded with a first edge region, which is printed with a narrow printed image section, as a folded portion, along a first folding line by the plough folder. A fold former is arranged after the plough folder. The part web is printed with only one horizontal page in tabloid format and is also printed with a narrow printed section on an adjacent edge region. The part web and the fold former are arranged in the partial web travel direction so that the part web, which is folded along one side by the plough folder, runs into the folding former offset. The center of the partial web is not aligned with the former tip but instead is offset with respect to that former tip.

A printing press system includes a first machine line of a printing press, which is embodied as a newspaper printing press, and is provided with at least one first printing unit having printing group cylinders of a first maximum effective printing width. A second printing press, which is equipped with at least one second printing unit with printing group cylinders that have a second maximum effective printing width, is part of the first machine line. A dryer is located in alignment with the second printing unit. A former structure, having an effective width that is defined by the width of one, or of several formers disposed next to each other, and perpendicular to the feeding direction of the web to be folded, is also provided in the printing press system. At least one turning device is usable to transfer a web or a printed web, which has been printed in the first printing unit, to the former station. The first maximum effective width of the first printing unit is greater than the second effective width of the second printing unit. The maximum effective width of the former structure is the same as the maximum effective printing width of the narrower printing unit.

A web-fed rotary printing machine has at least one printing unit and at least one turning bar that is usable to redirect a travel direction of a web that is to be conveyed. The turning bar has an effective length, for redirecting the web. A projection of this effective length corresponds with the width of the incoming web which is of at least four adjacently arranged printed pages in newspaper format.

A product section is produced in a printing machine that has at least one former. A web or a partial web of material is guided over the former. At least one web or one partial web is initially guided over a plow fold device and then over one, or another odd number of turning bars. This at least one web or partial web is then united, without passing through the former, and on a side that has been folded in by the plow fold device, over at least one guide roller as a partial strand with a partial strand that was guided over the former as a strand bundle before this partial strand is cut transversely in a transverse cutting direction into product sections.

A web-fed rotary printing press includes a printing unit which has a specific width for printing a web with six adjacent vertical printed pages in a first newspaper format. A longitudinal cutting device is used to divide the web into three partial webs, each of which having a width corresponding to two of the newspaper pages. A folding assembly includes a group of three fold formers which are located next to each other on a machine plane. The three formers are disposed in the web-fed rotary press in such a that the two distances between the folding planes of two of the formers, which are placed next to each other in pairs, can be modified.

A printing machine includes a printing cylinder that is fitted with plates for printing the width of N pages. A web of material is printed and is then cut longitudinally, by an elongate cutting device, into printed webs. The number N of pages is a whole number that is divisible by three and the total width of N pages is less than the width of the printing cylinder. A width of N+1 pages is greater than the width of the printing cylinder. The elongate cutting device can be arranged, on one boundary, between a Kand a K+1 page, wherein k is one third or two thirds of N. At least one of the resulting partial webs is guided through a former. The former is oriented so that the direction of travel of the web entering the former is transverse to the direction of web travel in the elongated cutting device. The former has a width that is equal to, or greater than two thirds of the width of the printing cylinder, but is less than the entire width of the printing cylinder.

A printing machine utilizes several printing couples to produce at least one printed image on a printed material. Compensation for at least one of a longitudinal elongation and a transverse elongation of the printed material is accomplished. An anticipated elongation of the printed material is compensated for by matching of a printed image placement, with respect to length, width or position, with an imaging system generating the printed image placement on a printing form.

At least one of a transverse elongation and a longitudinal elongation of a printing material are compensated for. The printing material passes through serially arranged printing couples in a printing press. A component of the transverse elongation is compensated for after passage of the printing material through a first printing couple and before its entry into a second printing couple. This can be accomplished by the use of a framing controller. Alternatively, this transverse elongation can be compensated for by the displacement of at least one printing form which is situated on a subsequent printing couple. The printing form can be displaced transverse to a production direction of the printing material, relative to a reference mark on the printing material. An elongation of the printing material, which is known at the time of image generation on a printing form of a subsequent printing couple can be compensated for by proper configuration or positioning of the printed image on the printing form.

A printing machine includes at least one printing group, one folder and at least one turn-and-mix stage that supplies the printed web output from the printing group to the folder. A web path from the printing group to the folder, when projected into a horizontal plane, is bent or deviates in the area of the turn-and-mix stage. The turn-and-mix stage or superstructure, includes a horizontal cutting device at an input side, for use in cutting the web into at least two partial webs. At least two horizontally displaceable turning bars are provided, and the partial webs pass around these turning bars.
