A spring strut with a steering knuckle, the spring strut having a tubular body to which the steering knuckle is fastened by a screw connection. The steering knuckle has a continuous slot which, together with the fastener, forms a clamping connection between the tubular body and the steering knuckle. A positioning connection, including a recess and an engagement part, exactly aligns the tubular body and steering knuckle with one another in the circumferential direction.

A fluid oscillation damper is provided with an electromagnetically controlled valve for varying the damping force of the oscillation damper. The electromagnetically controlled valve is housed within a compartment confined by two housing parts. A first housing part is fastened to a container of the oscillation damper A second housing part is fastened to the first housing part. Both housing parts are nonreleasably interconnected. The electromagnetically controlled valve is actuated by an electromagnetic coil. The electromagnetic coil is provided with a ferromagnetic core. A shock absorber with a check valve device and a check valve device for a shock absorber is disclosed. The check valve device located in the bypass of a shock absorber between a high-pressure segment and a low-pressure segment has a check valve which can be moved by an external control into a standby opening status, in which the actual opening can be performed as a function of the pressure prevailing in the high-pressure segment, when the pressure falls below a predetermined value. By coordinating the stroke distance of a check valve body with a magnet armature, and taking into consideration a control chamber discharge cross section, noises and fluctuations of the damping force characteristic can be eliminated even with a very soft comfort setting of the check valve device.

According to an illustrative example of the invention, a suspension strut of a motor vehicle comprises a protective bellows for the piston rod. This protective bellows protects the piston rod in all positions of the piston rod between an axially innermost operational position and an axially outermost operational position. In a vibration damper for a motor vehicle a flow path connecting a working chamber of the cylinder with a damping behavior control unit is confined by a flow path tube surrounding the cylinder. The flow path tube is provided adjacent its axial end portions with bead-shaped grooves accommodating respective sealing rings. In a double-tube oscillation damper a pressure relief valve is provided adjacent a piston rod guiding and sealing device between a leakage gas collecting chamber and an annular space confined between the cylinder and a container surrounding the cylinder. This pressure relief valve comprises an elastic annular membrane which is supported in radial and axial direction by a support ring. This support ring has a sleeve portion providing a circumferential, substantially radially directed support face for the elastic annular membrane and an annular bottom disc for fastening the support ring with respect to the piston rod guiding and sealing device. A radially outwardly directed lip is provided in the transition area between the sleeve and the bottom disc. This lip is integral with the sleeve and the bottom disc.
