Two composite parts, such as sheet and a hollow gas turbine liner tile, are fastened together using a fastening system that includes a journal bearing that fits in a bore in the sheet and springs to support a bolt fastener that is tightened to hold the parts together. Resilient spacers are placed between the sheet and the liner. The springs may comprise a stack of rings, each ring being a tightly wound helical spring, giving the ring a hollow cross section and resilient qualities.

A gas turbine exhaust liner contains air holes and a transverse slot to relieve thermally induced stresses on the liner, which is a catenary. The slot is covered by a seal, also a catenary, having two pieces that are joined in a way that allows them the expand with the liner so that the seal does not place thermal stresses across the liner.

Disclosed is a bolt assembly which includes two spacers having cooling channels defined therein which communicate with a central bore, and a bolt which extends through the bore of each spacer. The diameter of the shaft of the bolt is significantly less than either of the spacer bore diameters, allowing coolant entering the cooling channels of one spacer to circulate through the spacer bores and out the cooling channels of the other spacer, thereby cooling the bolt.

A variable area convergent divergent nozzle has floating divergent flaps which shift from a low mode to a high mode depending on internal and external pressure. The lost motion connection which permits this is biased to retain the appropriate mode for long term cruise conditions, to reduce ovalization of the nozzle, and to stabilize and/or dampen vibrations.
