Disclosed is a liquid electrolyte for use in lithium-ion, lithium-metal, and lithium-sulfur batteries, in which the liquid electrolyte comprises at least one organic nonlinear carbonate, at least one lithium salt, and at least one cyclic sulfoxide, and in which the liquid electrolyte does not comprise a combination of propylene carbonate, tetrahydrothiophene-1-oxide, and lithium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide (LiTFSI). Also disclosed is a lithium secondary battery comprising an anode, a cathode, a separator, and the liquid electrolyte for use in lithium-ion, lithium-metal, and lithium-sulfur batteries.

Liquid electrolyte comprising organic carbonates and cyclic sulfoxides for applications in lithium secondary batteries

A solvent-free polymer electrolyte having a polymer matrix which is conductive for lithium ions and a lithium salt, wherein the polymer matrix has at least one pseudo-polyrotaxane which includes at least one linear polymer and at least one ring-shaped molecule, and wherein the lithium salt is arranged in the polymer matrix and is at least partially chemically bonded to the polymer matrix, wherein the polymer matrix includes at least one pseudo-polyrotaxane with at least one completely or partially chemically modified cyclodextrin or at least one completely or partially chemically modified crown ether, in which the present hydroxyl groups of the cyclodextrin, or the scaffold of the crown ether, are/is partly or completely modified by functional groups, wherein the functional groups comprise alkyl, aryl, alkenyl, alkynyl groups (C, with n&#x2264;5), or other short-chain polymer groups having up to 20 repeating units.
