A spin-stabilized projectile has a projectile body and a guide band being circumferentially mounted on an outer face of the projectile body. The guide band includes a plurality of axially adjoining partial guide bands. One of the partial guide bands is a first partial guide band made of copper, a copper alloy or another soft metal. One of the partial guide bands is a second partial guide band made of soft iron and axially adjoining the first partial guide band. A total axial length of all second partial guide bands is between 5% and 50% of the total axial length of the guide band.

A gas generator adapted to be disposed in a rear part of a projectile for increasing the flight range thereof, includes a housing defining a combustion chamber and having a bottom and a longitudinal axis; a fuel accommodated in the combustion chamber; an outlet opening provided in the housing bottom for passage of combustion gases generated in the combustion chamber upon combustion of the fuel; and a plastic fuel-supporting tube extending axially from the outlet opening into the combustion chamber. The plastic material of the fuel-supporting tube is selected such that upon combustion of the fuel aided by a gas pressure of a projectile propellant and by a drag effect, the fuel-supporting tube is deformed and driven out of the outlet opening.

Gas generator for a projectile

A practice projectile includes a projectile jacket having a frontal end, a rearward end including a base, a length and a longitudinal axis; a fuze igniting on impact and being disposed in the projectile jacket; a component defining an axial tubular cavity extending throughout a preponderant portion of jacket length; a plurality of axially spaced explosive charges disposed in the cavity; and a transfer charge disposed between adjoining explosive charges for coupling the explosive charges to one another.

Practice projectile

A modular propellant charge (10) composed of N propellant charge modules (1; 11-16) each having a length Lo. In order to obtain an economical, durable, easily released connection between the propellant charge modules (1; 11-16), a displaceable sleeve (6; 17-22) of a length L is axially slidably arranged on the exterior of each propellant charge module (1; 11-16) with the relationship ##EQU1## applying for the length L. The displaceable sleeves are utilized to interconnect adjacent modules.

Modular propellant charge

A large-caliber carrier projectile for transporting a payload, with the projectile including an ejection charge and an ejector plate for ejecting the payload from the carrier projectile over a target area. To overcome the problem of the ejector plate colliding with individual bomblets of the payload, and thus causing considerable interference with proper functioning or premature detonations in the air, the ejector plate is an eccentric center of gravity. Alternatively, the ejector plate may be segmented and composed of at least two separable parts which are separated by the action of centrifugal force after ejection from the carrier projectile.

Carrier projectile

A payload projectile including a carrier body having an ogival region in which a receptacle for an ejection charge is provided. A perforated disc is seated immediately in front of the receptacle and a lifting ring screw closes an opening in the carrier body at the forward tip of the ogival region. A chamber, reserved for an igniter, is defined between a rear face of the screw and a front face of the disc and has radial dimensions wider than those of the seat of the disc so that the disc is movable forwardly toward the screw peripherally unimpeded in the chamber. The lifting ring screw is provided with a passage at least partially filled with a melting fuse and projections on the rear face of the screw so as to project into or in the immediate vicinity of the chamber, thereby to ensure that upon inadvertent ignition of the ejection charge in the absence of the igniter, upon movement of the disc toward the screw as a result thereof, hot gases from the ejection charge are able to pass along a path defined through and around the disc, melt the fuse and pass out of the carrier body without building up such internal pressure as might cause ejection of secondary ammunition provided rearwardly of the ejection charge.

Payload projectile for ejectable secondary ammunition

Practice projectile for target practice, which corresponds in shape and weight to a normal combat projectile, particularly to a sub-caliber combat projectile. The projectile upon impact disintegrates at preset breaking points. The projectile is unitary, but has at least one preset breaking point along its length. The projectile may be constructed as a tail-stabilized arrow-shaped projectile with a propulsive sabot extending over the preset breaking line and the preset breaking line may be positioned in the zone of the minimum firing loading.
