A method for detecting a video signal that represents an image sequence and exhibits linewise repeated video data comprises selecting a plurality of line groups each having a first, a second and a third line, which originate from two consecutive fields in the case of a field sequence and from one field in the case of a frame sequence. The method determines for each line group a first line-distance measure for a difference between video contents of the first and second lines and a second line-distance measure for a difference between video contents of the second and third lines. The method then interprets the first and second line-distance measures with regard to the presence of a significant difference between these line-distance measures.

Method for detecting image sequences having linewise repeated data

A method for testing a motion vector is described, which has: provision of at least one item of motion information assigned to the image sequence; storing a first image section of the first image in a first buffer memory and storing a second image section of the second image in a second intermediate memory, whereby a position of the first image section in the first image and a position of the second image section in the second image have reciprocal offset, which is dependent on the at least one item of motion information; determining a first image block in the first image section and a second image block in a second image section using the motion vector; comparing the contents of the first and of the second image block.

Method for testing a motion vector

An image to be interpolated is subdivided into a number of image blocks and a motion estimation technique is implemented to provide at least one initial motion vector for each of the image blocks. A modified motion vector is generated for each image block based on the initial motion vectors assigned to the individual image blocks. At least one additional image block is determined through which the motion vector assigned to the given image block passes at least partially, and the modified motion vector is generated as a function of the initial motion vector that is assigned to this at least one additional image block.

The invention relates to a method for rendering an image sequence. wherein an individual image is rendered by rendering monochromatic subimages in temporal succession. A subimage sequence obtained by temporal sequencing of the subimages is generated in motion-compensated fashion.

The invention relates to a method and a device for simultaneously representing at least a first and a second sequence of pictures (M, S) in an overall picture. The inventive method is characterised in that picture data belonging to a picture of the first sequence of pictures (M) is stored in the form of a first picture data signal in a first picture memory (SP). Picture data belonging to a picture of the second sequence of pictures (S) is stored in the form of a second picture data signal in a second picture memory (SP). The picture data of the first and second picture data memory is read out according to a periodic screen signal (RS), whereby phase shift (SHIFT, SHIFT, t) of the screen signal (RS) can be adjusted according to the first and/or second picture data signal.

Method and device for simultaneously representing at least a first and a second sequence of pictures in an overall picture

A time-discrete picture signal is formed from an analog picture signal, such as a luminance signal or a chrominance signal. Corresponding to the time-discrete picture signal, a time-discrete filter signal is formed, specifically a so-called 'peaking signal,' which has a sequence of peaking signal values, of which one value each is associated with one signal value of the time-discrete picture signal. The discrete peaking signal is formed by a digital peaking filter from the discrete picture signal or by an analog peaking filter from the analog picture signal during subsequent sampling of the analog peaking signal. The peaking filter increases the amplitude of selected frequency components of the picture signal.

Apparatus and method for slope-enhancement of signal transitions in television pictures

The circuit includes a motion detector including a first device for producing pixel motion signals, which have a first state for each pixel which is found to have moved and a second state for each pixel which is found to have been stationary, and a second device for correcting the pixel motion signals in order to produce motion values in such a manner that a state of a pixel which differs from matching states of adjacent pixels is ignored.

A method and an apparatus for the simultaneous reduction of noise and cross-color interference in television signals includes a picture processor having a recursive filter for processing a luminance signal and two chrominance signals. The picture processor also has a change detector connected to the recursive filter for determining filter coefficients for both chrominance signals from the luminance signal and feeding the filter coefficients as input signals to the recursive filter. The change detector for the luminance signal has comparison devices with variable thresholds and two evaluation circuits triggered by the comparison devices for defining the filter coefficients for the luminance signal and the chrominance signals.
