In order to be able to replace the packing pieces quickly and easily, they are held in their seats by clamping quick release closure.

A doctor blade device of a rinsable ink application device of a rotary press is cleaned by first pumping ink back out of an ink chamber of the doctor blade device via a discharge line into an ink tank. Subsequently, from a solvent tank and via a feed line, solvent is directed into the ink chamber. During a predetermined time span, solvent is directed via the discharge line into the ink tank. Subsequently, the solvent, which is still contaminated with ink, is pumped into a contaminant chamber within a predetermined time span. The solvent flow from the solvent tank is interrupted and the solvent is pumped into the contaminant tank. Fresh solvent is then pumped via the feed line into the ink chamber, the suction line to the solvent tank is closed, and the solvent is pumped via the feed and discharge lines within a closed rinsing cycle for a predetermined amount of time. The circulating solvent is then directed into the contaminant tank.

A printing press includes a central impression drum seated in bearings in a printing press frame. The drum is provided with a drive. At least one printing unit has a driven printing cylinder, which can be pressed against the central impression drum, and an inking roller, which can be pressed against the printing cylinder and which operates in combination with a cleaning inking system. The central impression drum, the printing cylinder and the inking roller have gears on their axles for driving them. The anilox roller is provided with a special continuous running drive. The printing cylinder gear can be coupled with the central impression drum and the anilox roller gear can be coupled with the printing cylinder gear by parallel displacement of the printing cylinder and anilox roller, respectively. The inking roller is driven both for continued running at a continuous-run rotational speed which is lower than the operational rotational speed and for cleaning the doctor blade assembly in a reversed direction at a rotational speed which is higher than the operational rotational speed. In order to drive the inking roller in this way, it can be coupled by a first shiftable clutch to the inking roller gear and by a second shiftable clutch to a variable-speed and reversible inking roller drive.

A doctor blade unit for the inking system of a rotary printing press consists of a doctor blade carrier, on which two doctor blades that can be brought into contact with an inking roller or screen roller are fastened parallel to one another in the approximate shape of a roof, with said doctor blades limiting an ink chamber in cooperation with the inking roller, the doctor blade carrier and sealing elements provided on the ends of said doctor blade carrier. Ducts for supplying and discharging ink into/out of the ink chamber and contacting units for pressing the doctor blade carrier against the inking roller are also provided. In order to ensure that both doctor blades can be pressed against the screen roller with exactly the same contact pressure, the doctor blade carrier is connected to a doctor blade unit carrier that is provided with the coupling rods of parallel pitman systems. The parallel pitmans are coupled to inking system flames or supports of the inking system flames.

A mounting device for bearings placed on shaft extensions consists of a lower support basin rigidly connected with the frame and of a lid, connected in a pivoting manner with same, provided with a lower lever forming the operating portion which, when the lid is in the open position, extends into or across the support basin far enough to pivot the lid into its closed position by lowering the bearing abutting against it and placed on the shaft extension; in which closed position the basin rests tightly against the bearing with its circular, curved inner side. For the sake of simplification, a single lid is provided in a pivoting manner with a locking lever, which has at its end a hook portion, which engages an abutment of the support basin. The invention concerns a printing press with several printing units arranged round an impression cylinder mounted in a frame, in which arrangement several gas blast devices for drying the web are arranged between the individual printing units. To allow the impression cylinder to be observed even in printing presses of a small size, the blasting devices are mounted for displacement on the frame in such a way that they can be displaced into and from a position at the side of the impression cylinder.

This invention relates to a printing press including an impression cylinder and a plurality of printing units which include drive gears and plate cylinders which are movable into and out of engagement with the impression cylinder. The press also includes a driven central gear which is coaxial to the impression cylinder and in mesh with all plate cylinder drive gears. The plate cylinders are permitted to have a plate length which is not exactly equal to an integral multiple of the tooth pitch of the plate cylinder gears so that the peripheral length of the plate cylinder is not an integral multiple of the tooth pitch of the central gear. The central gear is operatively connected by a gear train to drive a gear that is secured to the stub shaft of the impression cylinder. The gear train includes a differential gear train which has an input member that is adapted to be driven by an infinitely controllable transmission or by a stepping motor or the like. The input member is driven at such a modifying speed that the impression cylinder will rotate at a peripheral velocity which is equal to the peripheral velocity of the plate cylinders.

This invention refers to a rotary printing machine with at least one counterpressure cylinder and at least two printing belt cylinders around which a continuous printing belt carrying printing forms and printing pictures is led, with one cylinder thereof being provided with a radial ring of pins in the region of each of its ends, wherein the pins thereof mesh with holes of edge-side tracks of holes of the printing belt for a slip-free guiding of the latter.
