A process of mixing isocyanate and a polyol that reacts to form polyurethane used for the production of shoe soles includes the feeding of the isocyanate and the polyol into the bore of an elongated cylinder having a discharge opening at one end, the bore having a conical surface tapering toward that end, mixing the isocyanate and the polyol into a mixture reacting into the polyurethane by rotating an externally threaded worm in the bore, the worm having a shape matching the shape of the bore, and conveying the polyurethane through the opening into a shoe sole mold cavity. The worm and the cylinder in which it operates is disposed along a substantially vertical axis relative to the mold cavity, and the discharge opening is directed downwardly toward the mole cavity. At the end of each mixing and conveying step, the worm is axially shifted in a direction toward the discharge end followed by shifting the worm in an opposite direction for avoiding formation of any dribbles or drips of non-reacted mixture of the isocyanate and the polyol at the discharge end.

Process for mixing and conveying polyurethane into a shoe sole mold

A process for molding an outer sole of elastomer and an inner sole of a mixture of isocyanate and a polyol reacting into polyurethane to shoe uppers includes a vertically movable upper cross block supporting a pivotably mounted mold carrier with a heatable first mold part at one end for the molding of outer soles, and a lower, vertically adjustable cross block has a mold plate confronting the first mold part. The first mold part releases the molded outer sole on to the mold plate, the mold carrier is pivoted such that a cooled second mold part at the opposite end thereof overlies the molded outer sole which is then transferred to the second mold part, the mold carrier is again pivoted to confront the molded outer sole to a shoe last supported shoe upper, and an inner sole mold cavity is formed with the molded outer sole juxtaposed to the last supported shoe upper, and by an opposed pair of lateral mold elements closed about the shoe upper.

Molding outer and inner soles onto shoe uppers

An apparatus for molding an outer sole of elastomer and an inner sole of a mixture of isocyanate and a polyol reacting into polyurethane to shoe uppers includes a vertically movable upper cross block supporting a pivotably mounted mold carrier with a heatable first mold part at one end for the molding of outer soles, and a lower, vertically adjustable cross block has a heatable plate in contact with the first mold part. The mold carrier is pivoted such that the heatable first mold part containing the molded outer sole forms a mold cavity for an inner sole together with laterally movable mold elements and a last supported shoe upper. A vertically adjustable last body has a transfer plate which transfers the molded outer sole from the heatable first mold part for cooling before the molded outer sole is transferred back to a cooled mold part at the opposite end of the mold carrier, after which the last supported shoe upper is rotated to confront the outer sole and the lateral mold elements are closed to define a cavity for the molding of the inner sole.

Apparatus for molding outer and inner soles onto shoe uppers

A device including an injection mold for the production of a boot from thermoplastic material, the boot having a boot shank of a color different from that of the shank flange and the outer sole, both of which have the same color, by molding the shank and then in a subsequent and simultaneous step, molding the upper shank flange and the outer sole onto the molded shank. The injection mold includes a last for fitting with a textile sock, a base stemple having a deadhead borehole for injection molding the outer sole, another base stemple having a deadhead borehole for molding the shank, and two sidepieces. The sidepieces having sliding elements and, in their closed position for molding the upper shank flange, accommodate at least one deadhead borehole which communicates with the deadhead borehole of the base stemple for the outer sole. The sliding elements cover the cavity for the upper shaft flange during the molding of the shaft and release it for the molding of the upper shank flange.

Device for the production of boots having portions of different colors

A device for moulding soles composed of a rubber tread and a polyurethane intermediate layer and for directly attaching the soles to shoe shafts includes a bottom work station in which the rubber tread is moulded, a top moulding station in which the polyurethane intermediate layer is moulded between the rubber tread and a shoe shaft, and an intermediate cooling station wherein the rubber tread is cooled prior to being transported to the top moulding station.

Device for the moulding and direct attachment of soles to shoe shafts

Two axially bored tappet valves 11, 12 are rotatably mounted in a mixing head housing 10. Primary fluid components A and B are supplied to the respective bores through radial passages 21, together with fluid additives C and D supplied through longitudinally displaced radial passages 22, whereby these components A, C and B, D undergo preliminary mixing in collection chambers 19, 20 defined by the bores. The pre-mixed components are then supplied to a final mixing chamber bore 13 defined in the housing, through nozzles 23, 24, from which they may be expelled by an axially reciprocable push rod 14. Prior to expulsion the valves are rotated in unison, which blocks the inlet passages 21, 22 and communicates the pressurized fluid components with respective tangential return passages 25, 26 via partial circumferential grooves 27, 28 in the valves. Such rotation also aligns recesses 29 in the valve bodies with the chamber 13 to allow the push rod to travel freely therethrough.
