Vacuum switch with a current-loop assembly

In a low-voltage circuit breaker, terminal points for connecting contact arrangements to stationary bus bars are provided. Between the terminal points and the stationary bus bars, connecting bars are arranged which are braced relative to the housing of the circuit breaker by support bodies against current forces. The support bodies are parts comprising relatively thin insulating material with cutouts for the connecting bars. Detent projections allow the support bodies to snap into corresponding recesses in the lateral housing walls of the circuit breaker.

An actuating device for an electric switching apparatus comprises a shaft as well as a tube which contains the bearings of the shaft, for instance, roller cages. The tube has lathe cuts which engage in openings in the walls and is thereby fixed in the axial direction. An alignment tolerance of the openings in the walls does not affect the properties of the bearing adversely.

A disconnect (break) contact arrangement has disconnect contact blocks which are arranged between two support bars which are common to the disconnect contact block for one pole of the switchgear. Inner clamping pieces seize projections of the disconnect contact block, while outer clamping pieces serve for fastening a conductor section engaging the disconnect contact blocks. If two or more disconnect contact blocks per terminal of a switchgear are required, these are arranged likewise between two support bars and fastened by appropriately designed clamping pieces. In the space between the support bars, insulating spacers serve as additional support.

A current transformer comprises coil forms mounted on two opposite legs of a rectangular iron core, and insulating parts for insulating the iron core from a current bar which can be brought through the interior of the current transformer. The coil forms are connected together at both ends by an insulating part which surrounds at least partially the exposed legs of the iron core in U-fashion. For manufacturing a current transformer, the coil forms are first connected by assembling the insulating parts to the coil forms to form a frame into which L-shaped laminations are inserted to form the iron core. These laminations are connected at the abutting gaps by a welded seam. The current transformer is suitable particularly for use in low-voltage circuit breakers.

A low-voltage circuit breaker comprises a current transformer which at least partly encloses a first connecting bar and is supported by a stationary carrier independently of a second connecting bar. In the region opposite this support, the current transformer is disposed between an L-shaped carrier (angled-off), of the contact arrangements of the circuit breaker and an insulating piece inserted between the connecting bars. In this arrangement, the current transformer can be exchanged with a relatively small amount of labor, while at the same time, adequate strength of the connecting bars against forces is achieved which are introduced into the connecting bars by the continuing current bars.

A break contact arrangement is disclosed. One piece spacers provided with angled-off arms determine the mutual spacing of contact segments and guide the contact segments within a holder comprising side walls and sheet metal covers. The contact segments are spaced by the arms of the spacers. Each spacer includes a U-shaped central portion which is received in a recess of the contact segments and extensions at opposite ends which are fastened to the side walls of the holder. The contact forces are supplied by one-piece springs which have spring arms for each contact segment. The break contact arrangement is particularly well suited for pullout-type low-voltage and medium-voltage switchgear for connecting conductors of rectangular cross section.

An arcing chamber for electric power circuit breakers is disclosed in which perforated, sieve-like ceramic plates define a wedge-shaped arcing space. An essential part of the disclosure is the use of conical holes in the plates which decrease in diameter from the arcing space sides of the plates toward the outside. The hole size used in areas where the arc travels and is quenched differs from that used in the remaining part of the arcing space. The space where the arc originates is made without holes. The invention is suitable particularly for fast-acting D.C. breakers.
