A process for the production of readily dispersible pigment preparations with a pigment content of more than 65% is disclosed. An aqueous suspension containing 25% to 50% by weight of a pigment is made and kneaded with heating to 60.degree.-70.degree. C. Following addition of a cation-active substance and an oleate, a binder dissolved in an organic solvent is added and a phase inversion takes place whereby water is separated out. After decantation, the organic mass of pigment is kneaded and dried.

Carbon black containing pigment-synthetic resin concentrates are prepared by intensive intimate mixing of an aqueous polymerizate-lyosol containing a dispersed pigment and coagulating by addition of an electrolyte, separating the coagulate from the aqueous phase and drying.

Carbon black toned with lake forming organic dyes are produced by dispersing the carbon black in an aqueous solution of the dye and the laking agent, for example aluminum sulfate, the dispersion subsequently mixed with stirring with the lake forming agent sodium water glass, the laking being then completed by adding sodium molybdate and the toned carbon black dried after separation of the liquid phase.

Pigment preparations containing carbon black, blue pigment and a wetting agent are prepared having an intimate inseparable mixture based on the total amount of pigment of 60-95 wt. % carbon black pigment and 40 to 5 wt. % blue pigment and based on 100 parts by weight of pigment, 0.5 to 3 parts weight of polyvinylpyrrolidone and 4 to 10 parts by weight of a cation active invert soap. The products are useful for pigmenting waxless carbon papers, typewriter tapes, printing inks and synthetic resins.
