A plurality of longitudinal channels for supplying pressure medium are arranged within a carrier having a closed profile. A plurality of operating cylinders have pressure spaces which are flow-connected to the channels for moving the pressure rollers inward and outward in order to press coverings onto a printing unit cylinder.

Apparatus for pressing a covering onto a printing-unit cylinder for a rotary press

A printing unit includes a press unit having a forme cylinder, a transfer cylinder, an inking unit and, preferably, a damping unit. The inking unit of each press unit applies printing ink to a forme cylinder of the respective press unit in such a way that a ductor roll of an inking unit picks up printing ink kept ready in an ink fountain and applies it to the forme cylinder of the respective press unit by a film roll interacting with the ductor roll, inking unit rolls arranged downstream of the film roll, and at least one ink applicator roll rolling on the forme cylinder. Inking unit rolls driven in rotation and inking unit rolls driven in oscillation are are driven independently from one another on the drive side.

Printing unit and inking unit

A plate cylinder of a printing press, with a tensioning channel which extends in the axial direction, in which means for fixing the plate ends of at least one printing plate which can be positioned on the plate cylinder are arranged. The leading plate end can be fixed by a holding element against a contact surface by means of a tensioning rail which can be moved in the tensioning channel. After that, and after the plate cylinder has been rotated, it is then possible to hook the trailing plate end on the extended tensioning rail. After that, it is possible to draw the tensioning rail back in again to tension the trailing plate end.

An inking unit for a rotary printing machine includes an ink fountain, a pivotable ink fountain holder in which the ink fountain is mounted, an ink ductor, and a pivotable ink ductor holder in which the ink ductor is mounted. The ink ductor holder and the ink fountain holder are connected by an operating cylinder so that ductor and the ink fountain can be pivoted jointly to a first position in which ink flows out of the ductor without flowing out of the fountain, and so that the ductor can be pivoted away from the first position to a second position while the ink fountain remains in the first position, thereby creating a gap between the ductor and the ink fountain.

An impression cylinder for a rotary printing machine is equipped with outlet orifices for feeding a pressure medium into a slot for the purpose of lifting off a flexible plate from the outer surface of the impression cylinder. The orifice on the circumference of the impression cylinder is inclined in the direction of rotation of the cylinder. The ends of the plate are insertable into the slot and are secured therein against slipping out. The impression cylinder includes a cavity which runs in the longitudinal direction separately from the slot and is capable of being subjected to the pressure medium. The cavity includes at least one duct which is connected to the outlet orifice arranged in a side face of the slot. The side face is adjacent to the trailing end of the plate in the region of the slot orifice on the circumference of the impression cylinder.

A cassette for a wedge-shaped ink well of a printing machine has a bottom and a rear wall and two side walls. A front of the cassette, opposite the rear wall, faces a duct roller of the printing machine when the cassette is inserted into the ink well and is open. A handle connected to the upper portions of the side walls is positioned such that the cassette tends to incline to prevent ink from flowing out of the front of the cassette when the cassette is handled outside of the printing machine. The bottom and the sides of the cassette are sealed against the ink well adjacent to the duct roller. A seating arrests movement of the cassette relative to the ink well when the cassette is inserted in the ink well thus ensuring that the duct roller uniformly inked between sides of the ink well.

An inking apparatus for rotary printing machines includes a rotatably mounted, drivable ink roller and at least one ink container mounted such that it can be swivelled away from the roller, favoring cleaning and ink change. The swivelably mounted ink container permits the ink container to be emptied in an operator-friendly fashion avoiding ink residues to the greatest possible extent and also permits thorough cleaning of the ink container and the roller with good accessibility. The roller is mounted in a separate holder and the holder is mounted in the frame in such a way as to be swivelable separately from as well as together with the ink container.

Inking apparatus for rotary printing machines

An inking unit for a rotary printing machine, a frame and a plurality of rollers. The plurality of rollers includes two inking rollers fixedly mounted to the frame so as to be spaced from one another, and a transfer roller mounted between the two inking rollers. Bearing levers are pivotably mounted to one of the two inking rollers. The transfer roller is mounted to the bearing levers so as to be pivotable between an operating position between the two inking rollers and a pivoted-out position away from the two inking rollers. Roller holders are provided for adjustably holding the transfer roller on the bearing levers. Finally, an apparatus is provided for compensating for the holding weight of the transfer roller and the bearing levers during pivoting.
