A method and an arrangement for operating a rotating starting shear operating in a start-stop operation on rolling stock travelling at different speeds in wire mills, light-section mills, medium plate mills and billet mills, wherein the shear, whose gear system is connected through a coupling to a drive motor, is accelerated from the position of rest to approximately rolling speed and, after the cut has been carried out, is stopped again. A gear mechanism is arranged between the gear unit of the shear and the drive motor, wherein torsion-proof couplings are arranged between the gear unit of the shear and the gear mechanism and between the gear mechanism and the drive motor.

Method and arrangement for operating rotating starting shears

A reel for round rolling stock, such as fine steel or medium steel, particularly wire, with a coil basket for the wire coil to be coiled and vertically extending guide pins for the wire arranged in the coil basket, and with a raisable and lowerable coil floor which can be actuated by a lifting rod. A device for collecting wire windings hanging from the wire coil is arranged in the area of the upper reel head. The collecting device may be of annular construction and the outer diameter of the annular collecting device essentially corresponds to the outer diameter of the reel and the inner diameter of the annular collecting device corresponds essentially to the outer diameter of the outer surface of the coil basket.

A method of coiling steel rod arriving continuously comprises the steps of rotating about an upright axis a coiling basket defining a space centered on the axis and defined by an annular inner wall, an annular outer wall, and a floor between the walls, and feeding the rod into the space to form a coil resting on the floor and formed by a multiplicity of turns. The coil is, once formed, raised out of the space and simultaneously axially compacted and is also stabilized. More particularly the coil is stabilized by spraying an outer surface of the coil with a coolant while raising the coil out of the space. Normally the coil is rotated about the axis as the coil outer surface is being sprayed.

An apparatus for delivery of rolled stock wound into coils, especially of wire from a reel-up device and for transfer of the rolled stock coils onto conveyance arrangements located downstream, wherein the reel-up and conveyance arrangements are installation components of a rolling mill with one or more rolling lines for wire, light or medium section steel, which essentially comprises a furnace installation for the rolling stock used, as well as a breakdown train, intermediate train and, if necessary, a finishing train for the rolling stock. The delivery and transfer apparatus may be provided with a liftable, as well as horizontally displaceable support panel, which can also be swiveled in a carousel-like manner for the wound rolled stock coils and one or more reeling arrangements and one or more conveyance arrangements may be disposed in the peripheral region of the swiveling path of the support panel.

Apparatus for conveying rolled stock wound into coils in the reeling

A rotary basket winder with water cooling for winding a material includes a tank in the shape of an open topped point containing a rotatable winding carrier with two upwardly extending concentrically arranged rings of winding rods defining an annular winding space between them. A stationary guide pipe leads material into the winding space. A winding disk can be raised and lowered within the tank. Previously, in rotary winding baskets, the problem has been to effect uniform cooling, particularly in the center of the winding basket because of the formation of a funnel, and to afford trouble-free annular delivery after the winding process with high-strength work material characteristics. In the present rotary basket winder, coolant openings are located in the upper part of the tank and are arranged to recirculate a sufficient quantity of coolant into the center of the tank from above. In addition, rigid pins are mounted on the tank above the winding rods of the outer ring and form a ring with an inside diameter equal approximately to the inside diameter of the outer ring. Preferably, these pins are radially adjustable. Further, the winding rods of the inner ring have a length corresponding approximately to the height of the coolant level in the center of the inner ring.

A wire coiling apparatus with a recovery device for a coiled wire reel, including a coiler basket, formed of basket rods arranged on a baseplate which is drivable rotatably around a stationary vertical bearing, and a reel support mandrel that can be lowered upon and lifted off of this baseplate. The reel support mandrel includes a starplate insertable into recesses of the baseplate, and mandrel rods standing on the starplate. The free ends of the mandrel rods are connected with a guide dome and stand between the basket rods of the coiler basket in the inserted position of the reel support mandrel, in which position, the upper free ends of the basket rods are also connectable with the guide dome. The basket rods are fixedly inserted with their lower ends in the baseplate and their outer boundary lines face the wire reel windings, which lines are stressed by the wire reel windings during the coiling process, and extend to be slightly inclined inwards from bottom to top with respect to vertical. The mandrel rods are radially offset to such an extent with respect to the basket rods in the inserted position of the reel support mandrel that the wire reel windings do not contact the outer boundary lines of the mandrel rods. Herein the free ends of the basket rods are fixedly connected with centering bolts, which are insertable into centering recesses of the guide dome. The guide dome can be coupled with a retaining bearing, along its central axis, which bearing can be fixed so as to be stationary during the coiling operation.
