The gripper is movable in a path transverse to the bobbin tube supports of the magazine to be aligned with a bobbin tube. The gripper employs gripping elements which engage a limited arcuate accessible portion of a bobbin tube under a force sufficient to extract the tube during movement of the gripper to a retracted position. After release from the gripping elements a transfer chute directs a bobbin tube to a receiving apparatus for subsequent delivery to a machine needing same.

Apparatus for extracting bobbin tubes from a magazine

The service tender is constructed so as to operate with cylindrical or conical packages which are wound on the yarn handling machine. The tender has a framework on which a subframe is pivotally mounted. For winding of conical packages, the sub-frame work is tilted at an angle which is half the cone angle of the conical package/conical bobbin.

Bobbin inserting device

The yarn handling machine employs a bobbin gripper which engages a bobbin positioned at a collection position and moves the bobbin to a transfer location whereat the bobbin is transferred into a cradle mechanism. Both the bobbin gripper and cradle mechanism are moved together to position the bobbin at a winding position. During the latter phase of movement, the bobbin gripper pivots on a carrier arm to accommodate the joint motion of the gripper and cradle mechanism.
