The positioning device is used in an exposing and developing apparatus for printing forms comprising an exposure table having an exposure position with a forward side, a rear side, and two lateral sides, and a transport device for transporting printing forms onto the exposure table. The positioning device comprises a mechanism for positioning individual printing forms in the transverse direction comprising stop pins mounted on the exposure table on one side of the exposure position, a pressure member mounted opposite the stop members and a pressure mechanism for moving the pressure member laterally of the exposure position toward the stop pins for forcing a printing form laterally against the stop pins. The device also includes a mechanism for longitudinally positioning individual printing forms comprising a stop mounted on the exposure table on the exposure position front side and a slide mounted for movement forward of the exposure position for forcing a printing form toward the forward stop, the transverse positioning mechanism and the longitudinal positioning mechanism are actuated simultaneously.

Positioning device for an exposing and developing apparatus

A mechanism for transporting printing plates includes a swiveling lifting cylinder carrying on its extendable and retractable piston rod a dish-shaped plate which is equipped with suction elements. The printing plates are stacked in inclined positions in a plate holder. When so stacked, the coated, photoconductive sides of the printing plates face downwards and are protected from damage by sheets. For transporting a printing plate to an exposure table, the dish-shaped plate of the lifting cylinder is lowered onto the uncoated side of the printing plate which lies on top of the stack in the plate holder until the suction elements rest on the printing plate. Then, reduced pressure is applied to the suction elements so that they grip the printing plate by suction, and the piston rod is partially retracted into the lifting cylinder. Then the lifting cylinder swivels to a vertical position and places the now horizontally lying printing plate on a conveyor track where it is engaged by rollers and is further transported, after the reduced pressure of the suction elements has been released.

Mechanism for transporting printing plates

A mechanism for feeding and transporting printing plates to an exposure table with the aid of transport rollers. The uppermost of the printing plates is stacked in a plate holder. This plate is gripped by a swiveling lifting cylinder and is, after being swung through a semi-circular arc movement, deposited on a suction plate of the exposure table. The transport rollers, which are arranged on either side of the suction plate, are driven by a drive roller in each row via drive belts. Those transport rollers which are the first in each row (from the standpoint of the direction of printing plate travel) are arranged on swivel blocks which are swiveled outwardly from the rows before the printing plate is put down. This enables the forward part of the printing plate to be deposited on the suction plate without jamming. As soon as the printing plate rests on the suction plate, the first transport rollers are swiveled towards the lateral edges of the printing plate which is then transported forward, its lateral edges being guided in grooves provided in the transport rollers.

Mechanism for feeding and transporting printing plates

Disclosed is a magazine for holding a stack of sheet materials and being adjustable to accommodate stacks of different size sheet materials, comprising: a base plate; two sliding plates mounted longitudinally displaceably on the base plate; a bottom plate positioned laterally displaceably in spaced relationship above the sliding plates; a cam follower mounted on the side of the bottom plate facing the sliding plates; longitudinal confining means for the stack of sheet materials mounted on one opposing axial end of each of the siding plates; lateral confining means for the stack of sheet materials mounted on at least one lateral side of the bottom plate; and means, including a lever pivoted on the base plate and positioned in the space between the sliding plates and the bottom plate and a cam disk pivoted on the base for rotation with movement of the lever and positioned above the lever in said space so as to engage the camming surface of the cam disk with the cam follower for longitudinally displacing the sliding plates and laterally displacing the bottom plate in response to movement of the lever.

Magazine for holding a stack of sheet material

An apparatus for the selective removal of an ultimate sheet of a flexible material from a stack thereof is comprised of a support member for the stack of sheets; a restraining member for applying a restraining force on the stack at one transverse edge thereof; and a pair of pivotal levers disposed adjacent opposing longitudinal edges of the stack, each lever being operatively connected to the restraining member and pivotally connected at first and second movable swivel points on a support member therefor, one swivel point allowing for longitudinal displacement of the lever and the other swivel point allowing for vertical displacement of the lever, in order that the restraining member is capable of being displaced in substantially constant vertical contact with the ultimate sheet in the stack during any subsequent dispensing operations.
