A sewing machine having a device for manually changing a feed dog (), including the feed dog () and a feed-dog holder (). The feed-dog holder () is disposed in an arm bed () that is associated with the sewing machine, and the feed dog () is receivable in a clearance () of the feed-dog holder (). The feed dog () that is located in the clearance () has a support face () which may be disposed parallel with the surface of a sewn-product support which may contain a needle-hole plate () or be configured as a needle-hole plate (), the sewn-product support and/or the needle-hole plate () may at least partially be formed by the surface of the arm bed (), and the support face () may be received in an opening () of the needle-hole plate (). The feed dog () is fastenable in the clearance by a fastening element () or of a setting element () such that the support face () is alignable so as to be substantially parallel with the surface of the sewn-product support or of the needle-hole plate (). The fastening element () or the setting element () is releasably held in the feed-dog holder ().

Device and method for manually changing a feed dog

A quilting device () comprises a processing unit () which is mounted on a frame () so as to be manually displaceable in two movement directions (MM) by an operator. A detection device () having sensors () detects the guiding force which is exerted in these movement directions (MM) by the operator. A controller device () controls or regulates, respectively, auxiliary motors () which support the guiding force, so as to depend on the detected guiding force.

A device and the method for influencing the position of the knot () between the upper thread () and the lower thread () when sewing with a sewing machine () using a computer (), which calculates for every sewing stitch to be formed a control value for an actuator (), by which a braking force of the thread tension regulator () is controlled.
