An electromagnetic induction device including a magnetic core having a limb which has a first end and a second end, windings arranged around the limb, and a housing including magnetic material, which housing defines a space in which the magnetic core and the windings are arranged, wherein the housing defines a return path for the primary magnetic flux, enabling primary magnetic flux from the first end of the limb to flow via the housing to the second end of the limb.

The invention relates to power networks, and in particular to a battery energy source arrangement and voltage source converter system in such network. The battery energy source arrangement includes battery energy storage, having one or more parallel-connected battery strings and a mechanism for connecting a voltage of the battery strings to a load. A rotating valve apparatus includes a cylindrical casing; a shaft arranged symmetrically in the casing; a member fixedly attached to the shaft and in close fit with the cylindrical casing, defining separated chambers within the casing; at least one outlet fixedly arranged along the circumference of the casing; and a plurality of axially arranged inlets, each of which being constantly in fluid communication with a respective one of the separated chambers, wherein the axially arranged inlets are alternately in fluid connection with the outlet fixedly arranged along the circumference of the casing in response to rotation of the shaft and the member with respect to the casing. The outlet(s) has/have a fluid path length that varies along the circumference of the casing depending on the rotational speed of the shaft such that the interfaces between fluids originating from different ones of the axially arranged inlets will be essentially vertical to the flow direction of the fluids.

A high power static electromagnetic device with a flux path, a main winding and one or more regulation windings surrounding portions of the flux path. A control device is coupled to the flux path for selectively admitting the flux therein. In an exemplary embodiment, multiple flux paths are selectively turned on and off for including and excluding the regulation windings from the circuit. The windings may be formed of a magnetically permeable, field-confining insulating cable.
