Disclosed is a sewer system including a sewage receptacle, sewer piping connected to the sewage receptacle by means of a discharge valve, a mechanism for generating vacuum in the sewer piping, and a control mechanism for controlling the discharge valve. In order to achieve a more rapid closing of the discharge valve after discharge of the sewage from the sewage receptacle, the vacuum sewer system further comprises an aeration device in direct fluid communication with the discharge valve. The control mechanism is arranged to control the aeration device. Also disclosed is a discharge valve () for such a vacuum sewer system.

Vacuum sewer system

Vacuum sewer system comprising a source of sewage (), sewer piping (), a discharge valve () between the source of sewage and the sewer piping, means () for generating partial vacuum in the sewer piping, and a control means for controlling the operation of the discharge valve. The control means comprises a control mechanism () with a body part defining a series of chambers including a first end chamber and a second end chamber, wherein the first end chambers is provided with an activating means (). The body part () is provided with a first port () for communication with a source of vacuum (), a second port () for communication with the discharge valve () and a third port () for communication with an aeration means. The activating means () is in connection with a first valve means operating in cooperation with a second valve means, which is displaceable between a first position, providing communication between the second port () and the third port (), and a second position, closing the communication between the second port () and the third port ().

A valve means for a flow pipe includes a cylindrical or sleeve like body part having a length which is longer than the extension of the flow opening in the flow pipe. The body part is fastenable to the flow pipe or to a branch part of the flow pipe by a connecting means, whereby the connecting means comprises a first flange extending in a first direction of the flow pipe and a second flange extending in a direction opposite to the first direction of the flow pipe, said first and second flanges being fastened to the body part. The body part is made of a flexible structure in order to provide for the valve function in a simple manner.

Valve means

A vacuum sewer arrangement comprises a valve controlled air inlet duct to let air into the vacuum sewer at a position downstream of the sewer valve. The sewer valve can then be closed immediately after the sewage has passed into the vacuum sewer, because the air required for the sewage transport is received from the air inlet duct. Hence, the amount of air that flows into the sewer through the sewer valve when the sewer valve opens is small, and when the sewer valve is closed, air flows through the air inlet duct into the sewer, which reduces the pressure difference acting on the sewer valve. These measures tend to considerably reduce the noise level. In the case of a vacuum toilet sewer arrangement, the noise level can be further reduced by providing the toilet bowl with a lid forming a substantially airtight and soundproof closure at the top of the bowl. The volume of air contained in the bowl may be too small for proper discharge of the sewage, in which case additional air can be provided through a separate tube. This tube may be connected to the air inlet duct upstream of its valve.
