A device for storing and administering a medical fluid comprising a sealed flexible formed container with an opening part in its front end in which an insert is positioned. Over the insert, the container extends into a removable sealing cap. After removal of the sealing cap an injection means is attached to the insert and fluid administration through the insert is admitted in one direction by squeezing the container.

Container for intravenous administration

The invention relates to pharmaceutical closures for containers made of flexible polyolefinic materials which are suitable to be filled with parentally administrable fluids prior to their sealing and sterilization. The polyolefinic closures have an excellent resealing capacity after being penetrated by a piercing device for establishing fluid communication with the container, even after multiple entries into the container.

The present invention relates to a flexible polyolefin multilayered film for preparation of medical containers by self sealing, comprising at least a first outer layer and a second layer, each of the layers consisting essentially only of one or more polypropylene based polymers selected from the group consisting of polypropylene homopolymers, polypropylene copolymers having randomly distribute ethylene units and mixtures of said homopolymers and said copolymers, wherein said second layer has a melting point in the range between 120&deg; C. and 150&deg;, said first outer layer has a lower flexibility and a higher melting point than said second layer, and said second comprises a polypropylene polyethylene copolymer with a higher amount of ethylene units than said outer layer. The present invention also relates to medical containers made of or comprising the above film.

Medical containers

The invention relates to a process of preparing pharmaceutical closures for containers made of flexible polymeric materials which are suitable to be filled with parenterally administerable fluids prior to their sealing and sterilization. The process involves a specific relaxation period for the elastomer material of the closure which thereby can settle and develop resealing characteristics. The closures will have an excellent resealing capacity after being penetrated by a piercing device for establishing fluid communication with the container, even after multiple entries into the container.

Method of manufacturing pharmaceutical articles

A sealed container opening, intended for fluid communication with a container for storing medical fluids, comprising a tubular sleeve-formed part (,A) having a resilient pierceable stopper (,A) inserted in its mouth (,A) and a covering sealing device (,A). The sealed container opening contains the same autoclavable polyolefinic material as the container. All parts of said container opening, exposed to the fluid or fluid handling devices are sterilized in a single process by means of steam transferred to these parts during its autoclavation. Saddle formed port systems attachable to a flexible containers are also disclosed.
