Systems, devices, and techniques described herein relate to intelligently allocating network resources to Quality of Service (QoS)-sensitive data traffic. An example method includes identifying a request to deliver QoS-sensitive services to a User Equipment (UE) over at least one delivery network. The at least one delivery network may include at least one reserved resource and at least one pooled resource. The QoS-sensitive services are determined to be delivered over the at least one pooled resource. In addition, delivery of the QoS-sensitive services is caused over the at least one pooled resource.

Intelligent allocation of network resources

The disclosed technology provides systems and methods for dynamically locking and unlocking wireless communication devices by enforcing updateable subscriber identity module (SIM) and public land mobile network (PLMN) policy information. A device receives policy information from a policy server, compares the policy information against information in the SIM and dynamically updates a lock state of the device based on the policy information, potentially overriding a factory lock state of the device. The policy information can include a whitelist indicating the SIMs that the device can accept. The device can also obtain and apply branding information when the SIM information matches the received policy information, and block access to certain device functionality when the SIM information does not match the policy information.

Wireless device access and subsidy control

Network scheduling in unlicensed spectrums is described. A scheduler can assess, at a first time, first conditions of an unlicensed spectrum, such as Long-Term Evolution unlicensed spectrum. Based at least partly on the first conditions, the scheduler can determine a schedule for transmitting data via the unlicensed spectrum. The scheduler can, for a first period of time, facilitate transmission of data between mobile devices that are communicatively coupled to the communication tower based at least partly on the schedule. At a second time after the first time, the scheduler can assess second conditions of the unlicensed spectrum and update the schedule based at least partly on the second conditions to generate an updated schedule. For a second period of time, the scheduler can facilitate transmission of data between the mobile devices based at least in part on the updated schedule.

Network scheduling in unlicensed spectrums

An apparatus, method, and system disclosed herein are directed to a user equipment (UE) capable of dynamically selecting a telecommunication network for running an application using edge-computing capability of the telecommunication network. A subscriber identity module (SIM), such as an eSIM, may be provisioned for a plurality of preferred telecommunication networks of a multi-network mobile edge computing (MEC) system where each network of the plurality of preferred telecommunication networks meets an edge-computing requirement of the application. A workload associated with the application may be distributed among edge-computing nodes of a first network of the plurality of preferred telecommunication networks. Upon detecting a degradation in a service associated with running the application on the first network, running of the application may be switched to a second network of the plurality of preferred telecommunication networks and the workload may be distributed among edge-computing nodes of the second network.

Dynamic cellular network selection for Edge-computing of an application

Systems, methods, and devices can be used to perform service-aware utilization of shared wireless resources. In various instances, a quality metric (e.g., a Bit Error Rate (BER)) of a shared wireless resource is determined. Requested services can be provided based at least partly on the quality metric and the type of services being requested. For example, when the quality metric exceeds a threshold and the requested services are for Quality of Service (QoS)-sensitive services (e.g., Guaranteed Bit Rate (GBR) services), the services can be provided at least partially via a licensed wireless resource. However, when the quality metric does not exceed the threshold, and/or the requested services are for non-QoS-sensitive services (e.g., non-GBR services), the services can be provided via the shared wireless resource.

Service-aware utilization of shared wireless resources

The disclosure herein describes the use of a policy server to enable management of activation of an adaptively branded device with a brand with which the device is compatible. A brand registration is received from a device registration entity including a device identifier of a device and a registered brand identifier of a brand. The device identifier and registered brand identifier are linked in a data store. A device activation request is received from the device including the device identifier and a SIM brand identifier of a SIM installed in the device. Based on the SIM brand identifier differing from the registered brand identifier, activation of the device with the brand is prevented. Based on the SIM brand identifier matching the registered brand identifier, the device is activated with the brand of the registered brand identifier, whereby the device is enabled to complete a branding process based on the brand.

Managing activation and branding of an adaptively branded device

Intelligent event-based network routing is described herein. A device connected to a first network can determine an occurrence of an event and, responsive to determining the occurrence of the event, can determine contextual data associated with the event. The device can retrieve a data model that has been trained based on historical network usage data indicating one or more network usage patterns associated with the device, and can analyze the contextual data based at least in part on the data model to determine whether a change to a second network is warranted. Based on an output of the data model, the device can effectuate a change from the first network to the second network or refrain from effectuating a change from the first network to the second network. That is, intelligent event-based network routing can facilitate routing data communication based on user preferences to optimize user experience.

Handling supplementary services offered in association with Internet Protocol multimedia services based on particular policies is described. In an example, server(s) can receive, from a first user device, a policy associated with handling one or more communications directed to a particular identifier. The server(s) can subsequently receive a communication from a second user device, the communication being associated with a header identifying the particular identifier as the intended recipient of the communication. The server(s) can determine whether the policy is to be applied to the communication and, based at least partly on determining that the policy is to be applied to the communication, the server(s) can update the header based at least in part on the policy. The server(s) can transmit the communication based at least in part on the header, thereby transmitting the communication pursuant to the policy.

Header modifications for supplementary services based on policies

Example techniques described herein can permit interoperation between network terminals that have different performance characteristics, or that are connected via access networks having different performance characteristics. A calling terminal (or a core network device) can retrieve an indication of functional characteristics associated with a called terminal. The indication can be included in presence information associated with the called terminal. The calling terminal can determine a altered functional specification based at least in part on the functional characteristics and a functional specification of a session. The functional characteristics can satisfy the altered functional specification. The calling terminal can initiate a altered session with the called terminal via the network based at least in part on the altered functional specification. A terminal can detect network service provided by an access network and transmit presence information to a presence-information server. The presence information can indicate a type of the access network.

Terminal interoperation using called-terminal functional characteristics

Systems and methods for improving network resource allocation are disclosed. The system can determine which user's equipment (UEs) can be reallocated from a first network (e.g., one of the 4G network or the 5G network) to a second network (e.g., the other of the 4G network or the 5G network) to reduce load on the first network. The system can determine which UEs are capable of using each type of network and which services or applications that are suitable for use on each type of network. Due to differences in propagation and penetration distances of various frequency spectrums, the system can also determine which UEs have sufficient signal strength for each type of network. The system can reside on the network, on the UEs, or on both the network and the UE. The system can switch back and forth between multiple networks as conditions, applications, or other factors change.

Systems and methods for enhanced frequency allocation

A wireless communication system may support two types of networks, such as a 4-Generation (4G) network and a 5-Generation (5G) network. An LTE base station can be configured to broadcast information regarding whether it supports Non-Standalone Architecture (NSA) dual-network connectivity in conjunction with an associated NR base station. A communication device may use one of multiple strategies to determine whether 5G services are actually available at any particular time, and may display a corresponding network technology symbol when 5G services are accessible. The multiple strategies may be stored in non-volatile memory of the communication device. Policy information received from the communication system may specify which of the multiple policies is to be the active strategy, so that the network provider can change strategies without needing to perform a firmware or software upgrade.

Wireless transmission regulation for a frequency band associated with Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS) is described. In an example, a sensor associated with a device, which is configured to operate in the frequency band, can scan at least a portion of the frequency band to generate sensor data indicating at least energy present in the portion of the frequency band. The device can determine, based at least in part on analyzing the sensor data, a presence of another device using the frequency band. The other device can be a priority user having priority access over the device. Based at least in part on determining the presence of the other device, the device can adjust a device radio frequency (RF) transmission power for transmitting communication(s) within the frequency band.

Device-based wireless transmission regulation for citizens broadband radio service

The disclosed technology provides a system for scanning frequency channels that reduces the number of frequency channels scanned from among all the possible frequency channels that a wireless communication device can operate on. The wireless communication device uses historical data on last successful connection together with device data metrics from the last successful connection to determine a probability of successful connection for each of the potential frequency channels. The wireless communication device then ranks the probability associated with each frequency channel to determine a frequency scanning order that results in fewer frequencies being scanned before an appropriate channel is identified.
