The present invention relates to a method for producing flexible polyurethane foams, wherein an isocyanate component (component B) which comprises fatty acid derivatives comprising hydroxyl groups is used as starting substance. The flexible polyurethane foams according to the invention have a bulk density according to DIN EN ISO 3386-1-98 in the range of &#x2267;10 kg/mto &#x2266;150 kg/m, preferably &#x2267;20 kg/mto &#x2266;70 kg/m, and in general their compressive strength according to DIN EN ISO 3386-1-98 is in the range of &#x2267;0.5 kPa to &#x2266;20 kPa (at 40% deformation and 4th cycle). The invention also provides an NCO-terminated prepolymer comprising urethane groups obtainable by reaction of one or more polyisocyanates (B1) with one or more fatty acid derivatives comprising hydroxyl groups (B2).

Method for producing flexible polyurethane foams

A process for incorporating sulfonic acid groups in the structure of an aliphatic, non-polar, water insoluble compound is disclosed. In the process the compound is first dissolved in an appropriate solvent and is then reacted in the presence of a catalyst and oxygen with an aqueous sulfite solution. This invention relates to a process for the production of elastic, open-cell flexible slabstock polyurethane foams comprising reacting at an isocyanate index less than about 80 one or more polyisocyanates selected from the group tolylene diisocyanates, hexamethylene diisocyanate, and isophorone diisocyanate, with compounds containing at least two isocyanate-reactive hydrogen atoms and having a molecular weight of about 400 to about 10,000, in the presence of water as blowing agent in a quantity of about 5 to about 15 parts by weight for every 100 parts by weight of the isocyanate-reactive compound.
