A method of using an antenna system, comprising a transducer that is configured to transduce between wireless signals and wired signals and that is disposed between a ground conductor and a frequency selective surface, includes: providing constructive interference between a first signal of a first frequency and a reflected first signal comprising a reflection of a portion of the first signal by the frequency selective surface and the ground conductor; and providing constructive interference between a second signal of a second frequency, different from the first frequency, and a reflected second signal comprising a reflection of a portion of the second signal by the frequency selective surface and the ground conductor.

A wireless communication device includes: a first antenna configured to provide a first gain pattern at a millimeter-wave radio frequency and having a first boresight direction; a second antenna configured to provide a second gain pattern at the millimeter-wave radio frequency and having a second boresight direction that is different from the first boresight direction; and an electrically-conductive device; where the first antenna, in combination with the electrically-conductive device, is configured to provide a third gain pattern that has a first gain differential relative to the second gain pattern that is greater than a second gain differential between the first gain pattern and the second gain pattern over a range of angles relative to the wireless communication device.

An antenna system for transducing radio-frequency energy includes: a first antenna sub-system comprising a plurality of radiators and a ground conductor, each of the plurality of radiators being sized and shaped to transduce millimeter-wave energy between first wireless signals and first electrical current signals; and a second antenna sub-system comprising a first radiator configured to transduce sub-6 GHz energy between second wireless signals and second electrical current signals, wherein the first radiator comprises the ground conductor.

Multi-band wireless signaling

Techniques for providing multiple antennas in a wireless device using a compact configuration to achieve good isolation and broad bandwidth. In an aspect, first and second monopole elements that may be separately driven are provided on opposite sides of a grounding strip conductively coupled to a common grounding structure. By capacitively coupling the first and second monopole elements to the common grounding structure, the effective resonator size of each monopole antenna is increased, thus achieving better performance for the antenna structure. Illustrative patterns for the common grounding structure and other antenna elements are further disclosed.

Antennas with shared grounding structure

A method of MIMO signal transmission on a cable is disclosed. The cable includes at least a first inner conductor, a second inner conductor, and an outer conductive shield. A first data signal is transmitted using the conductive shield and the first inner conductor. A second data signal is transmitted using at least the second inner conductor. The first and second data signals may be transmitted concurrently. For some embodiments, the second data signal may be transmitted using the first and second inner conductors. Thus, the second data signal may be a differential signal. For other embodiments, the first data signal may be transmitted using the conductive shield and the first inner conductor, and the second data signal may be transmitted using the conductive shield and the second inner conductor.

Higher order multiple input multiple output in ethernet

A wideband antenna system with multiple antennas and at least one parasitic element is disclosed. In an exemplary design, an apparatus includes a first antenna, a second antenna, and a parasitic element. The first antenna has a shape of an open-ended loop with two ends that overlap and are separated by a gap. The second antenna may also have a shape of an open-ended loop with two ends that overlap and are separated by a gap. The parasitic element is located between the first and second antennas. The first and second antennas may be placed side by side on a board, located at either the top end or the bottom end of a wireless device, and/or formed on opposite sides (e.g., the front and back sides) of the board. The parasitic element may be formed on a plane that is perpendicular to the plane on which the first and second antennas are formed.

Wideband antenna system with multiple antennas and at least one parasitic element

Exemplary embodiments are directed to wireless power devices. A device may include a transmit antenna and a metallic structure spaced from and configured for detuning the transmit antenna. The device may further include a circuit for tuning the transmit antenna.

Tunable wireless power device

A simple, compact multi-band PIFA including two arm portions, where one arm portion is grounded at two points to form a loop, a ground plane, and a plastic carrier and housing. The antenna radiates a same signal from both arm portions, at different efficiencies according to the radiated frequency and the effective length of each arm. The antenna is made from a single standard metal sheet by cutting it and is assembled with the metal ground plane and the other plastic parts. In one embodiment, the antenna is folded into a 3D U-shape to reduce its size for use in mobile communication devices. In another embodiment, the antenna is a penta-band antenna with return loss of &#x2212;6 B or better and measures 40&#xd7;8&#xd7;8 mm or smaller.

Compact multi-band planar inverted F antenna

Various embodiments of a mobile computing device are described. In one embodiment, the mobile computing device comprises an internal antenna system and a first housing coupled to a second housing by one or more electrically conductive sliding portions, the one or more electrically conductive sliding portions to operate as radiating arms for the internal antenna system. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

Sliding antenna apparatus

Various embodiments of an internal multi-band antenna architecture for a mobile computing device are described. An internal antenna architecture for a mobile computing device may include multiple antenna elements, including a first internal antenna element configured to operate in a downlink frequency sub-band of at least one frequency band for communication in a first mode, and a second internal antenna element configured to operate in an uplink frequency sub-band of the at least one frequency band for communication in the first mode.
