Apparatus suitable for carrying out the coloring of synthetic textile materials by a vacuum transfer printing process, the apparatus comprising means for bringing the textile material into contact with the printed surface of a carrier material which has been printed with a water-insoluble dyestuff, means for subjecting the textile material and printed carrier material while in such contact to a pressure of not more than 100 mm. of mercury, and means for heating the textile material and the printed carrier material while subjected to the said pressure to a temperature above 100.degree. C.

Textile printing apparatus

A sealing apparatus which enables web material to be passed through a gap in a wall includes a plurality of main rollers in the gap in sequential contact between which the web material passes, an auxiliary roller in contact with the first and last main rollers, and a pressure-loaded bearing block mounted in a housing which forms part of the walls surrounding the gap, the coefficient of expansion of the bearing block being greater than the coefficient of expansion of the housing, and means for heating the bearing block.

Sealing means

An apparatus for effecting the coloration of synthetic textile materials, at a reduced pressure, by a transfer process which comprises a pair of opposed rigid platens mounted for relative movement towards and away from each other, means for heating at least one of said platens to a temperature above 100.degree. C, means for enclosing at least a portion of the space between the opposed surfaces of said platens when the platens have been moved towards each other into a closed position and means for reducing the pressure, within said portion, when the platens are in closed position, to below 100 mm of mercury, one of said platens being supported from at least one flexible diaphragm which is supported and sealed at its edges, the space on the side of the diaphragm from which the platen is supported being connected to the gas tight region between the platens whereby relative motion between the platens is effected by the differential pressure that is established across the diaphragm when the pressure in the gas tight region is reduced.

An improved sealing apparatus for permitting the continuous passage of a web material through a gap in a wall separating two zones at different pressures while minimizing the flow of air from one zone to the other.

Sealing apparatus

An apparatus for the colouration of textile materials with a gaseous stream containing a dyestuff, or dyestuffs, in vapour form, which comprises means for passing a hot stream of inert gas over a dyestuff and means for allowing the resulting stream of gas containing dyestuff vapour to impinge on the textile material, in particular an apparatus comprising a reservoir for containing an inert gas under pressure, said reservoir being connected to a tube fitted with heaters, said tube containing a receptacle for the dyestuff, and the other end of the tube being fitted with a jet from which issues the stream of inert gas containing a dyestuff vapour. The apparatus is preferably used for colouring synthetic textile materials with volatile Disperse Dyestuffs.
