The invention concerns a package for transporting and/or storing radioactive materials. The package comprises a wall element () and a cooling element () attached to the wall element () and protruding from the wall element () towards the outside of the package. The cooling element () comprises a base () and at least one fin () rigidly connected to the base (). The base () extends to either side of the fin () respectively towards two opposing lateral ends of the base, each of the lateral ends being attached to the wall element () via a weld.

A laser cutting/welding installation including a laser head configured to deliver a laser beam and a cooling device for cooling the laser head is disclosed. The laser beam is designed to generate a hot spot on a workpiece by incidence thereon and form a solder bath from a portion of the workpiece affected by the hot spot. The cooling device includes a vortex tube with a compressed gas inlet supplied with a compressed gas, a cold gas outlet, and a hot gas outlet. The vortex tube cold gas outlet is plumbed directly to an interior volume of the laser head and configured to deliver a cold gas directly to the interior volume of the laser head for cooling thereof.

Method and installation for laser cutting/welding

A method for making a component including fluid flow channels formed by making a plurality of grooves (), in at least one face () of a base plate (); having opposite ends so that the grooves have open top sides; scalably blocking the open top side of each groove and diffusion-welding a lid by hot isostatic compression onto the face () of the base plate () to cover each of the strips leaving open the fluid flow channels at one or both opposite ends of the base plate for allowing pressurized gas to penetrate into the flow channels.
