Process for the production of methionine or its derivatives by culturing a microorganism in an appropriate culture medium comprising a source of carbon and a source of sulfur. The microorganism and/or the culture medium are modified in such way that the methionine/carbon source yield is increased. The isolation of methionine or its derivates from the fermentation medium is also described.

Provided herein are recombinant host cells having an active 3-Hydroxypropionic Acid (3-HP) pathway wherein the host cells comprise a disruption to an endogenous gene that encodes for a pyruvate reductase. Also described are methods of making the host cells, and methods using the cells to produce 3-HP and derivatives of 3-HP (e.g., acrylic acid).

Mutant host cells for the production of 3-hydroxypropionic acid

The present invention relates to a method for the production of methionine using modified strains with attenuated transformation of threonine. This can be achieved by reducing threonine transformation into glycine, and/or by reducing its transformation to &#x3b1;-ketobutyrate. The invention also concerns the modified strains with attenuated transformation of threonine.

Strains and method for the production of methionine

The present invention claims an isolated polypeptide having L-amino-acid-N-acyl transferase enzymatic activity and a modified microorganism in which this enzyme is overexpressed. Substrates of said enzyme include mainly methionine and their derivatives or analogs. Overexpression in sulphur-containing amino acid producing microorganisms permits the production of large amounts of N-acylated sulphur-containing amino acids. The isolation of the N-acylated sulphur-containing amino acids from the fermentation medium is also claimed.
