A thrust washer for a bearing assembly having increased strength, decreased weight and improved oil flow for lubrication and/or cooling of the bearing assembly. The thrust washer includes an annular washer body surrounding a central axis. The washer body has first and second opposite axial sides, and each axial side includes a plurality of alternating radially-extending ridges and channels that define oil flow passageways. In one example, the thrust washer is a stamped component.

An insulated bearing includes an outer ring, a plurality of rolling elements, a first aluminum insulating cap, and a second aluminum insulating cap. The outer ring has an inner rolling surface and an outer spiral groove, and the plurality of rolling elements are in rolling contact with the inner rolling surface. The first aluminum insulating cap screwed onto the outer ring from a first axial end. The first aluminum insulating cap has a first inner spiral, complementary to the outer spiral groove. The second aluminum insulating cap is screwed onto the outer ring from a second axial end, opposite the first axial end. The second aluminum insulating cap has a second inner spiral, complementary to the outer spiral groove.

Insulated bearing

A bearing shunt includes a metal washer, a conductive washer made from a carbon fiber mesh, and a metal cover. The metal washer includes a first annular surface, a lip protruding axially from the first annular surface, and a first plurality of lubricant flow holes. The conductive washer includes a second annular surface contacting the first annular surface and a second plurality of lubricant flow holes aligned with the first plurality of lubricant flow holes. The metal cover is disposed radially inside of the lip and contacts the conductive washer. The metal cover includes a third plurality of lubricant flow holes aligned with the first plurality of lubricant flow holes.

Bearing shunt

A shunt assembly for a bearing configuration is disclosed herein. The shunt assembly includes a mesh layer that provides electric contact between a first and second conductive component. The mesh layer can be secured against one of the conductive components via application of a preload, which can be achieved by a spring, O-ring, or other element.

Shunt assembly

An insulated bearing includes an outer ring, a plurality of rolling elements, and an insulating cap. The outer ring has an inner rolling surface and an outer spiral groove, the rolling elements are in rolling contact with the inner rolling surface, and the insulating cap is screwed onto the outer ring. The insulating cap has an inner spiral, complementary to the outer spiral groove. In an example embodiment, the outer spiral groove comprises a cross-section having a shape selected from the group consisting of a rectangle, a triangle, and a trapezoid. In an example embodiment, the outer spiral groove has between 2 and 4 revolutions. In an example embodiment, the outer spiral groove has a width of 4 millimeters or less.

A shunt assembly for an open bearing including an annular shunt device having a plurality of through slots for passing lubricant and the annular shunt device being configured to engage a first bearing ring, a clamping ring seated against a second bearing ring within an inner diameter of the annular shunt device. The shunt assembly also includes a carbon fiber layer seated against a radially inner surface and an axially outer surface at least two surfaces of the clamping ring, the carbon fiber layer contacting the annular shunt device and a bracket partially enclosing the carbon fiber layer against the clamping ring, the bracket being configured to engage the second bearing ring, wherein the annular shunt device, the bracket, and the carbon fiber layer are configured to provide an electrically conductive pathway between the bearing rings.

Electrical shunt device

A bearing cage for a bearing assembly is disclosed herein. The bearing cage includes a first ring, a second ring, and a plurality of crossbars extending between the first ring and the second ring to define a plurality of rolling element pockets. A first terminal end of each of the plurality of crossbars is connected to the first ring and a second terminal end of each of the plurality of crossbars is connected to the second ring. A medial portion of each of the plurality of crossbars is defined between the first terminal end and the second terminal end, and a pair of recesses are defined on opposing circumferential sides of the medial portion.

Bearing cage

A bearing, including: an inner ring defining a first groove; an outer ring including a radially inner surface, the radially inner surface facing an axis of rotation of the bearing and defining a second groove and a third groove; a cage radially disposed between the inner ring and the outer ring; a plurality of balls retained by the cage, and disposed in the first groove, and in the second groove; and a preloaded resilient washer assembly including a rigid washer and a resilient washer including a radially outermost surface disposed in the third groove. The resilient washer urges the rigid washer away from the outer ring in an axial direction parallel to an axis of rotation of the bearing.

A bearing track cage includes a plurality of retention elements, wherein each retention element includes at least a first axial side and a second axial side, and wherein each adjacent pair of retention elements of the plurality of retention elements defines a rolling element pocket configured to retain a rolling element. A first support is slidably coupled to each of the plurality of retention elements on the first axial side thereof and a second support is slidably coupled to each of the plurality of retention elements on the second axial side thereof.

Bearing track cage for mitigating rolling element excursion

A bearing assembly is disclosed herein. The bearing assembly includes an outer bearing ring including at least one first connection element. The assembly also includes a cap defining an axial portion and at least one radial portion defining a cavity configured to receive the outer bearing ring. The cap includes at least one second connection element configured to mate with the at least one first connection element. The cap is formed from an electrically insulating material to prevent EDM.

Insulating cap for bearing assembly

An integration kit is disclosed herein that allows for mounting of a resolver trigger wheel relative to a bearing assembly, resolver, and rotor. The integration kit simplifies assembly and saves space. The integration kit includes a resolver integration sleeve that includes a first axial section including a radially inner surface defining a bearing support and radially inwardly extending flange defining an axial abutment surface. The resolver integration sleeve also includes a second axial section including at least one anti-rotation slot dimensioned to receive a portion of a trigger wheel, at least one anti-rotation tab extending axially towards the first axial section and dimensioned to be received by a rotor, at least one securing tab extending radially outward and configured to engage a trigger wheel, and a radially outwardly extending flange.

Resolver integration kit for variable reluctance resolver

A bearing includes an integrated electrical shunt. The shunt includes electrically conductive fibers sandwiched between two washers, at least one of which is electrically conductive. The fibers are fastened to the electrically conductive washer by electrically conductive epoxy. An outer shield protects the fibers. The outer shield is held to the washers by a drawn cup. The washers, the drawn cup, and the outer shield all have oil drain holes to allow lubricant to flow to the rollers.

Bearing with an integrated electrical shunt

An improved arrangement and method for preventing bearing ring creep is disclosed herein. The method includes providing a bearing ring including a radial surface having at least one spiral groove. The at least one groove has edge breaks connecting lateral sides to the radial surface of the bearing ring. The method includes arranging the bearing ring inside of a housing or around a shaft such that the radial surface of the bearing ring is arranged adjacent to an inner surface of the housing or an outer surface of the shaft. The edge breaks of the bearing ring frictionally engage with the shaft or the housing to prevent creep of the bearing ring.

Creep mitigation design for bearing assembly

A bearing cage is disclosed that includes a first ring and a second ring with a plurality of crossbars extending therebetween to define a plurality of rolling element pockets. The first ring and the second ring each include a plurality of radially outward protrusions, a plurality of reliefs, and a plurality of axially extending protrusions extending into the plurality of rolling element pockets. The plurality of crossbars each include a plurality of retention tabs configured to engage rolling elements in the plurality of rolling element pockets.

High speed bearing cage

A cage for a ball bearing is optimized for high-speed applications. To reduce weight, the cage is formed by a number of conical blades which collectively form an 'X' shape. To add rigidity, a number of gussets are placed between the blades at various circumferential locations. The light weight reduces the centrifugal forces for a given diameter and rotational speed. The rigidity permits the cage to withstand the centrifugal forces without excessive deflection or stress.
