Methods and apparatus are provided. In an example aspect, a method of transmitting a signal is provided. The method includes transmitting a frequency hopping signal on a first plurality of frequency channels in a first bandwidth using a first interference detect and avoid (DAA) scheme for each of the plurality of frequency channels, detecting interference in a predetermined proportion of the first plurality of frequency channels, and transmitting the frequency hopping signal on a second plurality of frequency channels in a second bandwidth smaller than the first bandwidth without using the first interference DAA scheme in response to detecting interference in the predetermined proportion of the first plurality of frequency channels.

Transmitting a signal

A method is disclosed of a transmitter configured to transmit a physical layer packet in accordance with a listen-before-talk procedure. The method includes acquiring an indication of a specific time for channel estimation, providing the physical layer packet with at least one measurement signal for channel estimation based on the specific time, and transmitting the physical layer packet. In some embodiments, the physical layer packet is provided with a plurality of midambles, wherein each midamble includes one or more measurement signals for channel estimation. In some embodiments, the physical layer packet is provided with a floating midamble which comprises one or more measurement signals for channel estimation. A method is also disclosed of a receiver configured to receive a physical layer packet transmitted in accordance with a listen-before-talk procedure.

Measurement signal for channel estimation

An access point of a wireless communication system configures a carrier for communication with one or more wireless devices associated with the access point. Based on a backoff counter maintained by the access point, the access point contends for access to the carrier to transmit data. In response to another access point winning contention for access to the carrier, the access point cooperates at least with the access point winning the contention by sharing a transmission opportunity reserved on the carriers by the access point winning the contention and transmitting at least a part of the data in the shared transmission opportunity. During the shared transmission opportunity the access point pauses the backoff counter.

Backoff counter handling for TXOP sharing

Methods are disclosed for communication devices capable of simultaneous transmission and reception, wherein a first method is for reception of a packet comprising a header and a payload and a second method is for transmission of a packet comprising a header and a payload. The second method comprises transmitting at least a part of the header. The first method comprises receiving at least a part of the header, attempting to decode the part of the header, and (when the part of the header is successfully decoded) transmitting a header acknowledgement signal. The second method comprises monitoring receipt of a header acknowledgement signal, and (when absence of the header acknowledgement signal is detected) interrupting the transmission of the packet and scheduling the packet for retransmission. Corresponding apparatuses, transceivers, communication devices and computer program products are also disclosed.

In an example aspect, a method in a network node is provided, the method comprising monitoring unlicensed spectrum access attempts for transmissions to and/or from at least one User Equipment, UE, in a first group of UEs configured to use unlicensed spectrum to send uplink transmissions and/or receive downlink transmissions and, in response to the monitoring, causing the UEs in the first group to use licensed spectrum to send uplink transmissions and/or receive downlink transmissions.

One aspect of the disclosure provides a method performed by a transmitting device, for transmitting wirelessly to a receiving device in a wireless network. The method comprises: obtaining information which is indicative of a level of wireless activity caused by interfering transmissions by one or more interfering devices, experienced by one or more receiving devices on one or more first channels configured for transmissions by the one or more receiving devices; and determining whether to transmit to a receiving device of the one or more receiving devices using one or more second channels based on the information indicative of the level of wireless activity experienced by the one or more receiving devices on the one or more first channels.

Methods, apparatus and device-readable mediums for scheduling transmissions in a wireless network

Transmitting a first data stream to a first station and simultaneously transmitting a second data stream to a second station. A method includes modulating a first signal by the first data stream to form a second signal, modulating the second signal by the second data stream to form a third signal, and transmitting the third signal by conversion to a transmission frequency to form a radio frequency signal, amplifying the radio frequency signal and providing the amplified radio frequency signal to an antenna. The modulation of the first signal is performed by scrambling of the first signal and the modulation of the second signal is performed by binary amplitude shift keying of the second signal, or the modulation of the first signal is performed by binary amplitude shift keying of the first signal and the modulation of the second signal is performed by scrambling of the second signal.

Adaptive sensing mechanism for unlicensed networks

Disclosed is a latency control method of a transmitter apparatus adapted for transmission of a plurality of packets under clear channel assessment requirements and latency requirements. The method comprises determining a maximum required time for clear channel assessment for the plurality of packets and determining a duration of time related to the determined maximum required time. For example, the duration of time may be determined as being equal to the determined maximum required time for clear channel assessment plus an offset. The offset may be equal to zero, or may be equal to a positive value. In some embodiments, the offset may be equal to, or larger than, a duration of another packet (which is not comprised in the plurality of packets). The method also comprises enforcing, for each packet of the plurality of packets, the determined duration of time to elapse after completion of transmission of the packet, before transmission of a subsequent packet of the plurality of packets is initiated. An aspect of the present disclosure is directed to a network node for performing communication in a wireless communication network. The network node is configured to receive a signal transmitted by a user device in the wireless communication network, measure a received power level at which the signal is received by the network node, determine, based on a predefined transmit power level of the network node, based on a predefined transmit power level of the user device and based on the received power level, a threshold power level for a clear channel assessment to be performed by the user device, and trigger transmitting an indication of the threshold power level to the user device. Further aspects of the disclosure pertain to a user device, methods and a computer program product.

Technique for performing clear channel assessments in a wireless communication network

A technique for performing a multi-layer transmission of data on a radio frequency is described. The multi-layer transmission comprising multiple layers each having a different robustness on the radio frequency. As to a method aspect of the technique, a contention procedure is performed with respect to each of a plurality of access classes, ACs, for accessing the radio frequency. The multi-layer transmission is performed upon success of the contention procedure of at least one of the ACs. In a transmission opportunity defined by the successful contention procedure, data associated with the successful AC is transmitted on a main layer of the multi-layer transmission simultaneously with data associated with at least one further AC on at least one further layer, which is less robust than the main layer of the multi-layer transmission.

During transmission of data by radio transmissions from a first radio device to a second radio device, a third radio device is controlled to transmit an interference signal on radio resources used by the radio transmissions from the first radio device to the second radio device. The transmission of the data is coordinated with transmission of the interference signal, and an effect of the interference signal on the radio transmissions is monitored.
