A braking system for use with a crusher having a moving crushing member and a stationary crushing member. The braking system is positioned and is operable to restrict rotational movement of the moving crushing member. The braking system includes a braking disc or plate and one or more braking yokes that each include a magnetic member, such as a permanent magnet or an electric magnet. The braking disc is formed from an electrically conductive material and is perpendicular to the magnets of the braking yoke. Relative movement between the braking disc and the braking yoke induces an eddy current in the braking disc. The induced eddy current creates a magnetic force that opposes rotational movement of the moving crushing member. The braking system can be used with a compact eccentric crusher to restrict the rotation of a crushing roller during an idle mode.

Eddy current brake for a crusher

A crusher may include a crushing member that is driven in an operatively connected manner by way of an eccentric element such that material to be crushed can be comminuted by way of a crushing movement generated at least in part by the eccentric element. At least one eccentric bushing may be connected by way of an active surface to the eccentric element by way of frictional engagement. The eccentric bushing may have a pressure medium chamber that uses pressure to vary the frictional engagement between the eccentric element and the eccentric bushing. In some examples, the crusher may be of a jaw type or a cone type.

Crushers having adjustable eccentricity

A screen bar for a bar screen may comprise a steel composite sheet having at least three steel layers: a top layer, a core layer, and a bottom layer. The top, core, and bottom steel layers may be interconnected by roll cladding in a non-releasable manner. In some examples, the core steel layer may have a higher deformability than the top steel layer and the bottom steel layer. Likewise, the top steel layer and the bottom steel layer may have higher hardnesses than the core steel layer. Such screen bars have extended service life and can be manufactured more cost effectively, amongst other benefits. Methods for manufacturing such screen bars may involve a variety of steps including hot rolling and/or heat-treating.
