A hearing application for a vehicle audio system may include at least one speaker configured to play playback content, and at least one hearing application programmed to receive optimization parameters from a hearing device within the vehicle, the optimization parameters including signal processing parameters specific to the hearing device, apply the optimization parameters to the playback content, and transmit the playback content for playback by one of the hearing device and/or at least one speaker.

An arrangement is described for measuring performance characteristics of a hands free telephone system. There is a measurement system which is coupleable over a telephone audio interface directly to the hands free telephone system for measuring the performance characteristics.

Measurement and tuning of hands free telephone systems

A calibration device automatically calibrates a telephone hands free system. The device includes a signal processor that processes a received telephone signal that may be converted into audible sound through the hands free system. A first telephone and a second telephone communicate with the signal processor. The first telephone is programmed to transmit a predetermined test signal to the second telephone through a wireless or physical medium. A comparator compares the received test signal to a predetermined reference signal at a hands free interface. The comparison determines a deviation from the reference signal. An adaptor modifies the processing of the digitized aural information based on the deviation.

An audio processing system controls an audio input signal. The audio processing system includes a signal analyzer that detects content information and source information corresponding to the audio input signal. The system generates an analyzed audio signal. A signal processor receives the analyzed audio signal and generates a processed audio signal based on the content information and/or source information.

A method for calibrating a hands-free system is provided. The hands-free system comprising a hands-free unit and a mobile phone, the method comprising the following steps of setting up a connection between the hands-free system and a distant terminal via a mobile telephony network of the mobile phone, transmitting a predetermined test signal from one of the hands-free system and the distant terminal to the other of the hands-free system and the distant terminal, the predetermined test signal being provided in both the hands-free system and the distant terminal as reference test signal, comparing the received test signal to the reference test signal stored in the other of the hands-free system and the distant terminal, and determining the calibration parameters of the hands-free system in accordance with the comparison.

A parametric loudspeaker system is described which is based upon the FM-modulation of an ultrasound carrier. Known systems work with AM-modulation. The FM-modulation produces a good matching to the resonant transducer such as the conventionally employed piezo-ceramic transducers. The resonance slope of the transducers is used for FM/AM-conversion. This FM-resonance principle can advantageously be employed in a multi-path loudspeaker system, in which the transducer works in the optimal resonance range in each of the paths. With the conventional AM-modulation this is not possible. The FM-resonance principle can also be used in resonance-free or resonance-poor transducers, such as for example electrostatic transducers.
