Disclosed are methods and means for facilitating injection which enable a correct penetration depth of the needle. These improvements are obtainable by using a needle covering device comprising an axially displaceable first tubular sleeve (,) arranged around the front part of said injection apparatus which at its foremost part surrounds the needle (,) over its entire length, and while overcoming a spring force, is axially displaceable rearwards to expose a predetermined length of the needle, said device further comprises a stationary outer tubular sleeve (,) releasably attached to the injection apparatus and fitted around the front part of said injection apparatus and an inner adjustable tubular stopping sleeve (,) which is axially displaceable between at least two predetermined positions while performing a sliding, helical motion around said front part of said injection apparatus when setting the distance between the foremost part of said stopping sleeve and a stopping flange (,) arranged on the inside of the axially displaceable first sleeve.

Limited depth penetration needle housing

The present invention relates to a system for locking a dosing button in a device for the administration of a product to be injected in predetermined doses. This device comprises a body (,) with a housing (,) for the product, wherein a selected dose for injection is transported from said body out of a container (,) through a transport member (,). This device also comprises a drive member (,) for the transport member (,) as well as a dosing button (,) coupled to the drive member (,) which is mounted so as to be capable of sliding within the body (,). The button ensures the transport of the selected dose when it is displaced from a first position into a second by actuating the drive member (,). The dose is selected in the first position by rotating the dosing button (,) so that is can be moved from a first rotation position indicating that no transport is possible into a second rotation position. This device further comprises a first indicator sleeve (,) affixed to the body as well as a second indicator sleeve (,) capable of rotation together with the dosing button (,), wherein both sleeves include indication members (,) for reading the selected dose according to the rotation position of said sleeves (,) relative to each other. This device also comprises an anti-sliding member (,) which allows the dosing button to be moved from the first position into the second only when the indicator sleeves (,) are placed in a zero position relative to each other thus indicating a &ldquo;zero&rdquo; dose. The anti-sliding member (,) can be unlocked by depressing on a trigger button (,), wherein the second indicator sleeve (,) releases the trigger button (,) for external access only when both indicator sleeves (,) are at the zero position.

Cartridge for pharmaceutical preparations

An injection device comprising a) a housing, b) a cartridge containing a preparation or precursor components for the preparation and having a front part and a rear part defining a general cartridge axis, an outlet for the preparation arranged at the front part and at least one movable wall arranged between the front part and the rear part, a displacement of which wall causes the preparation to be moved towards or expelled through the outlet, c) a piston rod, having a first end and a second end, at least partly contained within the housing and being operable to engage and displace the movable wall at its first end and d) actuating means within the housing arranged to move at least the rod. According to the invention the device comprises gripping means connected to the housing and arranged to hold the cartridge, or an enclosure therefore, with its front part distal and its rear part proximal to the housing, the actuating means being arranged to move the gripping means so as to move the cartridge, with its rear part leading, relative the housing, locking means able to lock the cartridge against axial movements relative to the housing, hereby defining a locked position for the cartridge, the actuating means being able to move the piston rod between at least one retracted position and at least one extended position, and the relative positions between the piston rod in its retracted position and the cartridge in its locked position being such that the piston rod extends into the cartridge. The invention also relates to a method for operating the device.
